Multiple Xbox players were surprised by Epic Games recently — in a bad way. Out of nowhere, they suddenly had several thousands of V-Bucks on their account — unfortunately with a minus in front! What's really behind the V-Bucks debts.
By now, everyone knows what currency is used in Fortnite — V-Bucks. Epic Games often gives away V-Bucks as compensation for their own blunders. But recently, it was exactly the other way around! Suddenly, Xbox players saw a big, fat minus in front of their V-Bucks amounts.
Fortnite: Xbox Players Abuse Exploit - Now Suffer Negative V-Bucks Balances
After being quite generous with V-Bucks lately, Epic Games is now punishing glitch-abusers. Using a — meanwhile disabled — glitch, some players on Xbox were able to add thousands of V-Bucks to their accounts without paying for them.
Through an issue with the refund system, Xbox players were able to purchase V-Bucks packages. Instead of the normal amount of V-Bucks though, players received much more thanks to the bug, meaning they got a multitude of free V-Bucks.
Epic Games was able to track most of those who used the glitch. And the alleged cheaters were shocked about what happened with their accounts. Epic Games bluntly removed all V-Bucks from the accounts that weren't paid for thanks to the glitch. But some players already bought something with these V-Bucks. So those cases lead to bizarre images of several thousand V-Bucks with a minus sign in front. One example was published by the Fortnite and Rocket League leaker SamLeakss on X, formerly Twitter.

The Fortnite Community Reacts: "Me Knowing I’m About To Be 150k V-Bucks In Debt"
Below Sam's post, a lot of people agreed with each other. "Deserved," is one of the most liked comments. Many also called the players' actions a clear scam. Others claim that they might soon be in debt with 150,000 V-Bucks or more on their accounts! Of course, we can't really tell whether that's true or just trolling. However, several Xbox players revealed themselves under the tweet, apparently not really happy about the punishment:
"deserved" man, imagine being glad cause the big fat company is getting fatter lmao.

Gifted Skins Vanish From The Locker
Another user posted on X that two of his skins have disappeared from the locker. His screenshots suggest that the people who gifted probably paid with V-Bucks that weren't their own. Another user clarified this with a post from the leaker NotPalo, linking this issue with the Xbox glitch.

But honestly, there shouldn't even be a debate here. Theft is theft and should have consequences for the guilty ones. The glitch abusers are kinda lucky as well that their punishment didn't turn into a real fine. Fortunately for the players, the problem originated from Xbox and Epic Games themselves. Unfortunately, some innocent players were also affected, since they'll have to wait for Epic to verify and return their lost skins to them.
But what do you think? Did Epic Games react properly in this case? Somehow, the negative V-Bucks do look both bizarre and kind of funny to be honest.
