Last Epoch, which has already sold a million copies in early access, is fully launching next week and wants to bring a breath of fresh air into the Action RPG genre.
The Action RPG genre is anything but barren, with one promising title after another. Last Epoch is the latest game coming for the crown (currently worn by Diablo 4). And the game has already hit an impressive milestone, even before its full launch.
Last Epoch has been in Early Access since 2019, but really picked up steam (absolutely no pun intended) around a year ago. It took them a while, but Last Epoch will finally launch into version 1.0 on February 21.
Last Epoch Could Scratch Your ARPG Itch
Even before hitting full release, the game has managed to sell over 1 million copies. This was revealed on the game’s official forum, where the devs at Eleventh Hour Games thank “everyone who has played, theory-crafted, reported bugs, shared their experiences, and simply enjoyed Last Epoch”. Currently, the ARPG has over 25,000 reviews on Steam and a rating of 'Very Positive', with 85% of players giving a thumbs up.
One major reason why Last Epoch is so popular, comes from the game striking a satisfying middle ground between complexity and accessibility. There is definitely a lot of depth to the game and its systems, but nothing is as mind-boggling as trying to understand Path of Exile. Players who were disappointed with Diablo 4 have praised Last Epoch for managing a more engaging and interesting balance between offering a smooth gameplay experience and systems that can keep you busy for hours on end.
Some issues have recently popped up though, mainly about the game’s technical level. Bugs are still pretty common, unfortunately, and the multiplayer still struggles with connection issues and lags. Hopefully these problems can be fixed soon.
Last Epoch 1.0 will be released on February 21 on Steam, with three different versions ranging from $33.99 to $63.99
