Dragon’s Dogma is infamous for its amazing, unique character classes, and it looks like Dragon’s Dogma 2 will continue this tradition in style. One of the new vocations in the game is the so-called Trickster and this is shaping up to be a unique, absolutely bonkers class that looks like a ton of fun to play.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Trickster Class Is Genius And Unique

The Trickster vocation was showcased in an exclusive preview by IGN’s Mitchell Saltzman, who calls the Trickster gameplay “a style of play unlike anything I’ve ever seen in an open-world action game”. Indeed, the Trickster seems to be a welcome change of pace from the more familiar classes, like Fighter, Archer or Mage.

The Trickster doesn’t really do any damage with their weapon, instead focusing on illusions and buffs. As the name might suggest, this class is all about tricking enemies. The main weapon, a censer, emits smoke and builds up aggro instead of damaging enemies. One of your main goals is to pull the attention of enemies, to lure them into traps and have your companions, the Pawns, attack them.

One special way to do this is with a clone of yourself, which you can create and teleport to yourself to kite enemies. The clone has a lifebar on its own and will be attacked by all enemies whose aggro you’ve pulled. The Trickster has many more tricks up its sleeve (pun fully intended), including fake walls and floors.

The IGN preview video shows a perfect example of how you can combine these abilities for amazing shenanigans: create a fake floor over a cliff, place your clone there, pull enemies’ aggro and they will jump into their own demise. This looks absolutely wild, incredible and imaginative, and I can’t wait to see, what other fun nonsense you can get up to with the Trickster.

In typical Dragon’s Dogma fashion, attacks and spells can get out-of-hand very easily. This thankfully also applies to the Trickster, who can summon a huge dragon illusion that is able to damage and stun all kinds of enemies, even the biggest ones. Knowing the game and the creativity of the team at Capcom, I’m sure there will be tons of other amazing spells and tricks that this unique class will have in its repertoire.
