Fallout, Stalker And A Real-Life Nuclear Accident: Atomfall Brings The Post-Apocalypse To The UK

Rebellion, makers of Sniper Elite, have announced their latest project: Atomfall. Set in a post-apocalyptic Britain filled with mechs and cults, the game promises to be a unique fusion that will appeal to fans of both Fallout and survival games.

Inspired by the 1957 Windscale incident, Rebellion is creating a narrative that imagines the aftermath of the UK's most significant nuclear reactor disaster. This real-life event, classified as a Level 5 nuclear accident, serves as the basis for Atomfall's fictionalized quarantine zone, similar to the setting of Stalker.

Post-Apocalyptic Worlds And Retro-Futuristic Cultures

The trailer reveals a mix of idyllic British landscapes and a retro-futuristic society infused with 1950s aesthetics, echoing the appeal of the Fallout series. We uncover the Zone's dark secrets, battling not only government mechs and conspiracies, but also folklore, mysticism, and a secret cult. Survival depends on our scavenging skills, with our choices shaping the narrative story, according to the developers.

Set for release in 2025, Atomfall aims to deliver a gripping survival action experience on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and 5. In addition, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will enjoy Day One access to the game.
