Throughout most of this week, Helldivers 2 enthusiasts have consistently reported sightings of blue laser beams during their missions - but Arrowheads' CEO is denying these claims.
Helldivers 2 players have begun seeing mysterious blue beams, which many believe points to the existence of a third enemy faction. Occasionally, the beams pass overhead without incident, but sometimes they mimic sniper fire, and have apparently even killed a number of players.
"Blue Beams Aren't Real, They Can't Hurt You"
The prevailing pattern among these incidents is the consistent presence of blue beams, a type of weapon not used by any current enemy faction in the game. After extensive discussion speculating on the possible return of the Illuminate faction, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios stepped in to address the issue, stating, "Blue beams aren't real, they can't hurt you."

At this time, the nature of these blue laser beams remains uncertain. However, some veteran players have noted similarities between these blue lasers, and those encountered in the original game, specifically attributed to the Illuminate faction. Known for their formidable abilities, the Illuminate represent an advanced alien civilization with ambitions toward Super Earth and a considerable amount of firepower in their arsenal.
Some players were able to capture footage of the blue laser beams, as you can see here:
Based on the development of the Helldivers 2 story and Pilestedts post, we think it's likely that the Illuminate will soon be added to the game.
