Honkai: Star Rail Devs Reveal Why The Lordly Trashcan Became A Reality

Honkai: Star Rail has truly embraced the players love for trash, by including the Lordly Trashcan as a fightable object. But how did the devs come up with this idea?

Honkai: Star Rail has multiple jokes and references built into the game. One of them was created by the devs themselves, when they added in fighting trash cans into the newest update of Penacony. Where did the idea of the Garbage King and the Lordly Trashcans even come from, though?

In an interview with Game Watch, the devs went into greater detail about the new enemies players encounter all over Penacony and where the inspiration for them came from.

Honkai: Star Rail players know and love the trashcans in the game. When the game first released, players got to explore the city of Belobog. During the trailblazers exploration, they were also able to interact with a multitude of trash cans all over the city.

These interactions turned into literal memes on the internet and in the Honkai: Star Rail community. In an interview with Game Watch, Honkai: Star Rail devs revealed that the online memes are what they took as inspiration for the Lordly Trashcan, which became an enemy that players could fight, if they dared to — seriously, why are they so tough to fight?

Thanks to the attention the small jokes got, the team decided they wanted to add a humanoid trash can that trailblazers would have to face. The devs even revealed that there could be an improved and updated version to the Lordly Trashcans coming in future updates. A trashcan boss, maybe?
