No More Elden Ring DLCs: Shadow Of The Erdtree Is The Only One We Get

Previous FromSoftware games have received their fair share of DLCs, but Elden Ring is different in many ways – that's why Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only one we'll get for the gigantic open world.

FromSoftware's president Hidetaka Miyazaki has come forward to pull some teeth, sharing that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC for Elden Ring that fans can look forward to. Shadow of the Erdtree releases on June 21 and invites players back into the epic open world – if they ever left in the first place, that is.

Elden Ring's game director Miyazaki said in an interview that "it's the first and final DLC, and we have no plans to add more content to Elden Ring." It almost feels brazen to be a bit upset about the news, but it's also a compliment to FromSoftware about the amazing game they created with Elden Ring – fans just want more!

No More Elden Ring DLCs, But That Doesn't Mean That Was It

FromSoftware fans are used to multiple DLCs – who doesn't have fond memories of the Dark Souls 3 DLCs and Sister Friede, to name just one? – so the news that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC we'll get for Elden Ring is a tough pill to swallow.

That doesn't mean that the Elden Ring era is over, though. Miyazaki also shared that, similar to the Dark Souls games, there are no intentions of ending Elden Ring for good. In March 2024, he spoke to IGN about the possibility of Elden Ring 2:

We don't want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now. I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn't want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. And it's a similar story with Elden Ring. We don't want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future.

According to him, there are no concrete plans for Elden Ring 2 just yet, though. Knowing FromSoftware, the chances are not too bad, though, even if it might take a while for a new game to blow our minds to come out.

Good thing Shadow of the Erdtree is just around the corner and from what we know so far, it's going to be massive in its own right.
