Overwatch Players Furious Over Cowboy Bebop Cosmetics: "You Can Buy The Entire Series For Less"

Cowboy Bebop is coming to Overwatch 2 and while players were initially excited, that quickly went away after they caught sight of the price tag for the cosmetics.

Skins and cosmetics in free to play games are the bread and butter for companies to make as much cash as possible. Companies like Riot Games have built a whole system on players simply purchasing skins instead of paying for a game, and Blizzard has created a similar system with the launch of Overwatch 2.

But it seems that Blizzard hasn't accounted for the community's willingness to pay, since many fans believe that they're being overcharged for the skins and cosmetics in the game. Recently, it was revealed that Cowboy Bebop is coming to Overwatch and fans are not happy with how expensive everything is.

Overwatch 2 Skins Are Far Too Expensive: Players Feel Like They're Being Robbed

On Twitter/X, fans have pointed out just how expensive the Cowboy Bebop skins are in Overwatch. While players have to purchase the skins with in-game currency, they'll have to use real money to get their hands on this currency. Most developers use this tactic, since players often then don't realize just how much money they spend on cosmetics.

But when you calculate the cost of the Overwatch Coins needed for the Cowboy Bebop skins in the client, then it amounts to roughly $25. That means if you want every single skin you'll have to fork over $100.

One user also pointed out that you might as well buy the actual show, Cowboy Bebop, on Amazon for cheaper than a single skin. Now imagine the imitation of the original being more expensive... oh, and this is just one skin of one character from the show rather than all of them.

It seems like some big game developers are starting to lose sight of who their target audience truly is. Riot Games brought $200 re-colors of existing skins into the game and Overwatch skins have always been on the pricier side which has frustrated fans for a long time.

On the other hand, developers like Arrowhead Game Studios have added a battle pass to Helldivers 2, which can be unlocked with premium currency which can either be obtained by paying or simply through playing the game. This means players can get a lot of content without having to spend a dime extra.

Unfortunately, it seems like Blizzard is going to keep making players spend insane amount of money for cosmetics, because we all know that there are a few whales (people who spend a significant amount of money on microtransactions) who will finance the entire game on their own.
