According to multiple reports, big Xbox exclusive games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Starfield and more could come to PlayStation 5.
Different reports have claimed, that multiple Xbox exclusive games could come to PlayStation 5 as well. While rumors about action hit Hi-Fi Rush coming to PlayStation and Switch already surfaced weeks ago, this new wave of reports concerns even bigger titles like Starfield and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Starfield & Other Xbox Games Are Set To Come To PlayStation 5
Initially, XboxEra claimed in a report based on anonymous sources that Starfield is among the numerous games set to make the jump from Xbox to PlayStation. According to the report, Bethesda’s latest giant RPG is set to get a PlayStation at some point after the first Starfield DLC Shattered Space releases. This follows long-running rumors that games like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves have PlayStation versions coming sometime soon.
These won’t be the only big budget Xbox exclusives to get PlayStation versions, though. The Verge has revealed, that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is “tentatively set to launch” on PS5 as well. The upcoming action-adventure title has an Xbox and PC release planned for December 2024, with the PS5 port potentially coming just a few months later.
These moves would be quite shocking, as console exclusives have always been a big part of the gaming industry. However, Microsoft is apparently going to abandon this strategy and are instead working on “new multi-platform approach”. Just last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said he would “love to get rid of exclusives” and it looks like he might get his wish!
The exact details of this plan are not yet finalized, though, so it’s not entirely clear what exactly will happen with other Microsoft-owned games, like Call of Duty or Halo, in the future. This strategy also doesn’t seem to be universally beloved within Microsoft.
There are reports of “intense debate” within the company, pointing towards more uncertainty on how exactly Microsoft will develop this new multi-platform strategy. Making Bethesda’s games exclusive was already seen as controversial, going back on that decision doesn’t seem to be too popular either.
What do you think about Microsoft going multiplatform? Does it make sense, or is it too risky to bring Xbox exclusive games to PlayStation? Let us know in the comments!
