Starship Troopers Lead Wants To Be In Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 fans want a collaboration with its biggest inspiration, Starship Troopers. And it looks like the film’s lead actor is down.

The huge success of Helldivers 2 has had the lovely side effect of bringing people back to Starship Troopers; and for good reason! Not only is Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 Sci-Fi satire the biggest inspiration for the game, it’s also just an absolute classic.

The obvious connection has led to many fans of the film or the game (or both) crying out for a collaboration. It would just be perfect, wouldn’t it? Well, it would. And that’s why it’s really fun that Casper Van Dien, the main actor in Starship Troopers, is actively entertaining that thought.

Starship Troopers & Helldivers 2, Name A More Iconic Duo

The actor, who played Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers, is probably the one person who has done the most to entertain the fans’ desires. He has consistently replied to posts connecting the cult classic to the PlayStation hit for weeks, and continues to do so.

Recently, Van Dien has stoked excitement again by replying to a tweet, asking for him to do a commercial for Helldivers. He posted a GIF of himself as Johnny Rico vibrating, with the caption reading “DESIRE TO KNOW MORE INTENSIFIES”.

Unfortunately, Van Dien deleted the tweet. Whether that has any implications about some kind of collaboration actually being in the works or not is up to you to decide. But the guy is clearly excited! With the continued success of Helldivers 2 and the palpable excitement around possibly making something together, hopes are high that it will eventually happen.

Previously, Van Dien reposted multiple articles about the game and replied to several tweets by the game’s account and Arrowhead Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt. On February 22, he already said that the two parties “should do a crossover movie”, but that was only a joke of course. Unless…
