Hideo Kojima's YouTube Show “HideoTube” is finally back after seven years! During this video, Kojima gave insights into his plans for his own action-espionage title, PHYSINT!
Hideo Kojima is back and has recently provided fans with exciting updates on his upcoming and ongoing projects. The recent PlayStation State of Play gave us a mesmerizing ten minute trailer for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and the much-anticipated announcement of a "Metal Gear-like" game that 100% represents Kojima's vision – "Physint". This action-espionage game is a collaboration with Sony Pictures, made to create a movie-like experience and "a new take on interactive entertainment."
Now, after a long break of over seven years, his YouTube show "Hideo Tube" is finally back. In the most recent episode, Kojima talks about his plans and the emotional story regarding his motivation for this game.
After Kojima became independent of Konami in 2015, he wanted to create something new with his own IP. Therefor, he created Death Stranding and OD. However, a health setback in 2020 led to a turning point when he eventually decided to fulfill the requests from fans worldwide for another Metal Gear installment. While he was at a very low point in his life, he decided to make this happen and prioritize the will of the people.
Kojima left Konami in 2015 because they didn't agree on creative matters. He wanted more freedom, so he started his own company, Kojima Productions, and teamed up with Sony for projects like "Death Stranding."
"I turned 60 last year, I will turn 70 in ten years. I hope to never retire"
He also shared that he received numerous requests from Hollywood to make movies, which he declined to focus on his own company which is dedicated to create games that blend with movies.
Kojima's influence extends beyond his games; he serves as a role model, inspiring many with his brilliance and innovation. A visionary ahead of his time, he is paving the way for designers in film, gaming, and entertainment to explore new and innovative creations.
Although it is still a long way until we get to see hints about Physint, we are sure that it will give us exactly what we needed for so long: Metal Gear, but 100% Kojima.
