Overwatch 2 Hitbox Update Is So Extreme, Players Won't Need Good Aim Anymore

Overwatch 2 season 9 finally released with a bunch of reworks and changes. But the changes done to the projectile hitboxes are so extreme, that they could potentially break the game.

Overwatch 2 Season 9 has just been released and is said to be the biggest update the release of Overwatch 2 in October 2022. Besides a big competitive rework and many gameplay changes, there is one extreme change, that many fans are already skeptical about. This will especially affect all those fellas out there who don't have aim.

Since Overwatch 2 season 9 released, many players have expressed their issues with the extreme hitbox changes that made it to the game. The official patch notes of the new update read as follows: “Most damage-dealing projectile sizes have been increased by a new global modifier added to their base size.”

In other words: Depending on the type of projectile, the hitbox sizes have been increased. Hitscan projectiles that are more precise , for example, have been increased by +0.08 meters (e.g., Cassidy's Peacekeeper or Soldier 76's Heavy Pulse Rifle).

In an official gameplay and competitive breakdown for Overwatch's new update, content creator mL7 said: “There will be a lot of experimenting in this season”. Afterward, he elaborated that with all of these changes, we have no idea yet how the meta will turn out.

Looking at the hit box in close up, they seem extremely large, which led to many players expressing concerns. On the other hand, these changes have not been in the game long enough to judge whether they really have a major influence on the gameplay and fairness.
