The Acolyte Starts With Insane Character Twist
Throughout all the promotional video, viewers were greeted with a hooded figure played by Amandla Stenberg. Her character would end up being the main protagonist of the story, Mae, who is a Force-user, but someone at odds with the Jedi order. This was already a unique twist on the Star Wars universe, but what was unveiled during episode 1 would be even crazier.

In the first episode, we got introduced to Mae, a Force-user accused of murdering a young Jedi. Throughout the episode it was revealed that not only is Stenberg playing the main character, Mae, but also another character, who looks just like her, and was once a Jedi Padawan.
This second force user turned out to be none other than Osha, a young mechanic who left the Order to pursue another job. Viewers quickly find out that Mae and Osha are actually twin sisters, with both believing the other to have died on their home planet.
This was a huge and unexpected twist, but had viewers wanting more. As The Acolyte continues, we find out more about both Mae and Osha, who are the central characters of the show, both exploring the power of the Force in different ways. It's an interesting and unique concept, with Stenberg getting to play double duty in this series as she takes on the role of both protagonists.
