Not really surprising, but still pleasant: ABC has renewed The Rookie for season 7. We've got all the info you need!
The police drama continues! The Rookie has officially been renewed for another season, surprising basically no one. ABC's hit series will continue and we've got all the info you need about that.
In The Rookie, we follow the story of John Nolan and join him on his journey to becoming a police officer, despite being 40-something years old. He has to navigate not only the challenges of being the oldest rookie in the LAPD, but also has to deal with personal drama in the department and his private life. As if work wasn't stressful enough...
When Does The Rookie Season 7 Release?
The previous season took a little bit longer to come out due to delays caused by the Hollywood strikes, but as that is a thing from the past now, we should be back on track with a new season coming out every few months.
Two seasons a year were the standard up until now, so we're confident that's what we can expect again. While we're still waiting for official confirmation, we're guessing that The Rookie Season 7 begins in September 2024.
The Rookie Season 7: Most Of The Cast Returns
One thing is for sure: there is no The Rookie without Nathan Fillion and obviously, he'll return as John Nolan.
It's nothing new that the extended cast changes pretty regularly, but we're pretty confident the main cast will stay the same for the seventh season. That includes the following:
- Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez
- Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey
- Eric Winter as Tim Bradford
- Melissa O'Neil as Lucy Chen
- Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper
- Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers
- Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune
- Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen
- Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez
What Does The Rookie Season 7 Have In Store For Us?
The next season will probably have more episodes again. Season 6 was rather short, but that was because the Hollywood strikes got in the way – that's something Season 7 doesn't have to deal with anymore, so we're positive it'll be on the longer end again.
What about the plot? The Rookie isn't exactly known for complex plots that need forty-five seasons to come to a conclusion, but rather for exciting cases for the LAPD to solve and some personal issues to tackle. They'll probably follow the tried and true formula that made The Rookie so successful in the first place – never touch a running system, as they say!
We'll keep you updated on any further Rookie news, don't you worry!
