In an intense and long batch of games, G2 Esports has been crowned North American Regional Champions, catapulting them to the Majors in December.
G2 Esports have come out on top of the final RLCS 2021-22 NA Regional, catapulting them to the Fall Majors in December. The win was after a series of three best-of-sevens, the longest run of matches in RLCS history. As a result of this win, G2 Esports are coming second on the North America leaderboards, and will be going to the Majors to compete against NRG, FaZe Clan, and Team Envy.
The final spot for the North American Fall Major will be decided in an upcoming match between Spacestation Gaming and Complexity on November 16. This game will act as a tie-breaker to decide on who will take that highly prized fifth spot. It will be a tough competition, with Spacestation Gaming and Complexity both having competed strongly in the last three regional events.
Coming in second on the North American leaderboards, this equates to G2 Esports' first RLCS Regional Event win for the current season. G2 Esports are made up of Reed "Chicago" Wilen, Andres "dreaz" Jordan, and Jacob "Jknaps" Knapman, each of whom competed successfully to achieve the win. Dreaz is one of the youngest competitive Rocket League players to have succeeded this highly in the RLCS, at only 15 years of age.
Rocket League Esports' Twitter Page acknowledged their win this weekend, saying that "The Grand Finals of the North American RLCS Fall Classic was the longest RLCS set ever played. G2 Esports and Envy played the maximum total of 21 games over three Best-of-7 (BO7) series."

Reed "Chicago" Wilen delivered the final goal in the North American Fall Slip Regionals, taking the competition home for G2 Esports. The goal won a very tense set of three sets-of-seven, which had previously sat at a stalemate between the two teams. Many are calling it one of the most intense and interesting Grand Finals in RLCS history. Whether or not this is true, it was certainly the most interesting set of games in RLCS 2021-22 so far.
After the November 16 match to qualify either Spacestation Gaming or Complexity for the Majors, we will not see any more North American teams compete for a few weeks. The Majors will be held between December 8 and 12, featuring competitions between the champion teams or each region, each bidding for their participation in the Championships next year.
