God knows The Witcher on Netflix has its issues, so seeing Ciri actress Freya Allan in a classic franchise could get her into the good graces of Witcher-averse audiences again.
Not to beat a dead horse, but The Witcher isn't what fans hoped for – regardless of good performances by the actors, including Freya Allan. She actually does a darn good job with the tools that are given to her (and she'll probably have to prove her talent more than ever in season 4), but branching out might be just the right thing for her.
Cue: Planet of the Apes franchise! Allan will take on a role in the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, coming out on May 10, 2024.
A Classic Movie Franchise Might Just Be The Thing For Freya Allan
Before we get into the details, go check out the trailer:
Allan plays the human girl Mae and while not too much is known at this point about the details, one thing is for sure: Mae seems to be the polar opposite of Ciri, granting Freya Allan the perfect chance to prove that she's got more in her than Geralt's poised kind-of-adoptive-daughter.
Obviously, Allan has shown as Ciri that she's a talented actress, but the more feral role in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes could be a huge chance for her career nonetheless. In a beloved and successful franchise like Planet of the Apes, a job well done could lead to even more great opportunities.
There seem to be some similarities in the upcoming movie to her role as Ciri, though. It seems like Noa, a highly evolved ape, has taken Mae under his wing and is pretty protective of her – does that sound familiar? Not to compare mighty Geralt of Rivia to a chimpanzee, I'm just saying we've seen that dynamic before...
But chances are that Allan's Mae won't get white hair halfway through the movie and the ape won't magically be replaced by Liam Hemsworth at some point, so her new role might just be the thing to win over those who couldn't look past their bitterness about Netflix's Witcher to see her good performance.
