Loki season 3 just got a confusing update. A writer for the show claimed that they ended the story of Loki and the TVA with season 2, but separately a producer is claiming that there are “more stories to tell”. So, maybe more, or a spin-off?
Loki has been playing a big role in the MCU ever since he turned out to be the main villain in the first Avengers movie. From there he turned from a villain, into an anti-hero, into somewhat of an actual hero (especially in his very own spin-off series). Tom Hiddleston managed to turn the mischievous trickster into a fan favorite in his own right. Hurrah.
No kidding, despite the steady decline Marvel is facing at the moment, Loki season 2 actually got fans excited! So what about season 3? Here's what one of the writers, the producer and even Tom Hiddleston have to say.
Loki Season 3: A Continuation Of The Story Seems Promising, But Will Tom Hiddleston Return?
With Loki season 2 coming to an end, fans are looking forward to any and all news regarding a potential season 3. The good thing is, we've got some statements from people that know the project, the bad thing is, they couldn't be more vague.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Eric Martin, a writer for the show, explained how they “approached this as like two halves of a book. Season one, first half. Season two, we close the book on Loki and the TVA,”. Okay... this doesn't sound all that promising. A little later in the interview, though, he explains that there is still room for stories “beyond that” and that he simply “wanted to tell a full and complete story across those two seasons.”
We could get another season that dives into a completely new plot outside the TVA storyline, or we could get spin-offs that somehow relate to the happenings of Loki, but are a different story altogether. Or we get nothing and this was all interview-talk?
The executive producer of the show, Kevin Wright, also addressed this while doing press for the premiere of Loki season 2. Talking to Dexerto, Wright stated how despite Loki leaving no loose ends with its season 2 finale, “there’s other books on the shelf”, referencing Martin's metaphor. He also adds that he “would love to have another 12-year run with Tom”, which honestly sounds like it's still up in the air.
Hiddleston himself might be done with the character, though, calling the finale of Loki Season 2 the conclusion to 14 years of his life.

Although we all hope that that's not true, as Hiddleston's departure would leave a gaping hole, both in the MCU and our hearts, Wright seems awfully prepared for that possibility. He seems to be interested in exploring the TVA as well as Sylvie's character a little more, explaining how “they’re just starting their arcs” and that “there’s a lot more stories to tell.”
