Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias took the drama to unprecedented levels, even by Serenity's standards. However, the lack of a typical cliffhanger in the finale left fans concerned that the tales of Helen, Dana Sue, and Maddie might have concluded for good.

Fear not! The absence of a cliffhanger doesn't mean the end—Netflix has confirmed another season is on the way. Here’s what we know so far about Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias!

Sweet Magnolias Season 4 | Possible Release Window

In October, Netflix renewed Sweet Magnolias and confirmed the fourth season, but obviously couldn't share a release date yet – because there isn't one at this point. But looking at the pause between season releases in the past, we can estimate when season 4 is going to come out.

Based on that schedule, we predict that Sweet Magnolias season 4 might be available on Netflix by fall 2024. After the conclusion of Gilmore Girls, it's time for a new fall release featuring a close-knit community and strong female energy, wouldn't you agree? I can't keep rewatching Gilmore Girls every year for that cozy seasonal vibe. Or can I...?

However, I digress – so let's get back to Serenity and take a look who's going to be back in season 4!

First things first: of course, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley will return as Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen – no point in visiting Serenity without the trio! As the three of them have grown close over the course of filming, there's no way one of them would turn her back on Sweet Magnolias.

Harlan Drum will probably pick up a more prominent role as CeCe's now living with Helen, so that's also good news. The only little cliffhanger in the last season was that Noreen and Isaac needed to talk, so expect to see Jamie Lynn Spears and Chris Medlin in all their glory again.

All the Townsends are set to return too: Chris Klein, Carson Rowland, Logan Allen and Ella Grace Helton will reprise their roles as Bill, Ty, Kyle and Katie. The rest of the Sullivans will be portrayed by Brandon Quinn and Anneliese Judge as Ronnie and Annie.

And, of course, Justin Bruening and Dion Johnstone will grace our screens again as Cal and Erik.

Can't Wait For Season 4? Consider The Sweet Magnolias Books

Sweet Magnolias is based on the book series by Sheryl Woods – not to be confused with Sheryl J. Anderson, the Netflix showrunner! Be warned, though, as the show takes a bit of a different approach at times. The books still focuses on Helen, Maddie and Dana Sue, but some of the storylines are show-exclusives and are not present in the books.

The first book, Stealing Home, was released back in 2007 – simpler times! Accordingly, the show is a bit more modern, so keep that in mind if you decide to give the book series a try. And I highly recommend it! And only $2 for Stealing Home really is a steal, isn't it?

You can check out the complete series right here if you're interested, and the eleven books might just be enough to make the wait for season 4 more bearable! And, keep in mind, it could actually be a while. I still got my money on a release in fall 2024, though.

As soon as there are more updates to report, you can be sure you'll read about it here! And until then, here are some shows that might be right up your alley:
