According to history, the story of the Los Angeles Lakers didn't end in 1984. But will the HBO hit show Winning Time end here, or migth we get a third season?
Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty by HBO captured basketball fans and couch potatoes alike with the gripping dramatization of the Showtime Lakers from the 80s. And while the season 2 finale was a tough pill for the Lakers to swallow, their real story didn't end there.
And so the obvious question remains: Is HBO going to tell more of their story? Sadly, the answer is disappointing.
Winning Time Won't Get A Season 3, But You Can Read Up On The Drama
After the season 2 finale, Lakers fans were surely wishing for HBO to continue the show and get us to the good times. Sadly for viewers, HBO has officially canceled the show and season 3 is off the table.
The reason? Viewer numbers, probably. The real Lakers won't cry many tears, though, as some of them disagreed with the portrayal – especially Jerry West, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Following the criticism, HBO made clear Winning Time was not a documentary.
