Dr Disrespect Claims Warzone 2 Is Doomed To Fail...

Dr Disrespect has begun casting doubts on the success of Warzone 2. Is this a genuine complaint? Or is he simply talking down a competitor to his own upcoming game?

Doctor Disrespect has his own triple-A video game studio, so whenever you see him hating on a game, you have to take it with a pinch of salt. He is a competitor after all. But he made some pretty sound arguments recently in regard to Warzone 2. Basically, the Doc doesn't expect it to be as popular as the original. And while it will probably never reach the heights of 2020 (Verdansk was a godsend during the pandemic) we're slightly more optimistic. But here's what he had to say.

Why Does Dr Disrespect Think Warzone 2 Will Fail?

Dr Disrespect thinks that Warzone 2 will be too limited to the IW engine to push the boundaries it needs to. We heard all of this while Dr Disrespect was streaming Warzone. He was checking out the new map when he began speaking openly about Warzone 2:

I can see some initial hype, but nothing like the original Warzone map and the original Verdansk. I just don’t see it. What we'll see is a slow decline. [...] To have all these resources in the palm of your hand, but to be limited by the potential of this engine, or the capabilities of this engine, it kind of sucks.

Call of Duty might get the marketing wrong, and there will probably be a lot of questionable game design decisions in Warzone 2, but we have to disagree with it being the engine that might compromise this project. The IW engine, which will be improved upon again for MW2 and Warzone 2 (making it IW9), is one of the strongest parts of Warzone. And we've already heard about changes coming with the newly upgraded engine:

These are just a few of the changes, but they show that the engine can be improved upon. And when you compare the graphical fidelity that this engine can produce to any of the other major BRs out there, it seems like an even stranger complaint.

Look, no disrespect to Dr Disrespect, but it's the creative vision and game design that fans of Warzone should be worried about, not the engine. But for now, we'll all need to hold on for a few months until we've seen actual gameplay.
