Unlike Warzone 1, the meta in Warzone 2.0 is no longer exclusively dominated by assault rifles and sniper rifles. So far, SMGs have also been found in the meta and, most interestingly of all, finally LMGs again.

With Warzone 2.0 playing at a significantly slower pace, heavier weapons like LMGs finally have a chance, and one of those in particular right now is the absolute long-range meta.

In this article, we rank all currently available LMGs in Warzone 2.0 for you, from the worst to the best. If you are not interested in Warzone 2.0, you will find the best LMGs for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer here.

The Best LMGs In Warzone 2.0

6. 556 Icarus (MCR)

The Icarus is the LMG variant of the M4, and it's a fairly lightweight LMG. It has quite good mobility, but with it comes higher recoil and the damage is more comparable to an assault rifle than an LMG. However, this is exactly what makes it a bad choice in our opinion. With an LMG, we are looking for weapons with a long range and strong damage, otherwise we might as well opt for an assault rifle.

5. HCR 56 (AUG HBAR)

The HCR 56 is even more mobile than the Icarus. So it plays even more like an assault rifle. The high mobility comes at a price though, and that's a pretty steep drop in damage over distance and lower damage overall.

If you're mainly fighting at medium ranges, the HCR is damn strong and outperforms many other LMGs, but at longer ranges you should choose one of the following.

4. RAPP H (HK21)

The RAPP H is the LMG version of the Lachmann platform. With the highest rate of fire in the class of LMGs, it's not too bad, however, it is very difficult to control at a distance. It is best to use the RAPP at medium distances and shred everything. For longer distances, we recommend one of the following LMGs.

3. Sakin MG38 (M249)

The Sakin MG38 has a huge magazine, but is also one of the slowest LMGs in the game. Accordingly, it is absolutely useless at shorter distances. However, it offers decent firepower, especially at long ranges. As long as you adapt to the weight and the significantly slower play style, the Sakin is a good long-range weapon.

2. RAAL MG (KAC LAMG)

The RAAL packs a punch like nothing else. It's very slow, has a fairly slow rate of fire, but the incredible damage more than makes up for it. Believe it or not, with the RAAL it only takes two headshots on an unarmored enemy, and they're down. It also has a damn short TTK on the upper body and the precision isn't bad either.

You've probably died to many a RAAL in Warzone 2.

1. RPK

The RPK is the LMG version of the Kastov platform and is the absolute meta in Warzone 2.0. The damage and range are just great, and the reload time is also amazingly fast for an LMG. Of course, it's a bit slower than an assault rifle, but in principle, the RPK can be considered the new best long-range option.

How To Play An LMG In Warzone 2.0?

You need to play passive; lots of posting up and pre-aiming. Sure, everyone can play how they want, but if you specifically choose an LMG for your loadout, you need to play a little more cautiously and adapt to the sluggishness of the LMGs.

Compared to Warzone 1, however, this disadvantage is much smaller because the entire game is a bit slower. This is exactly why LMGs stand out from the crowd this time around and in many cases are the better long-range option compared to an assault rifle.

But always remember to have a good secondary weapon with you for close combat if you are pushed or have to go into close combat. Some SMGs come in handy here, but also mobile assault rifles like the Kastov-74u or the STB 556.
