The next Aquaman is releasing soon, but the movie has hit rough waters with allegations emerging against lead actor Jason Momoa. According to recently released documents from co-star Amber Heard's therapist, the set was "hostile", with Momoa showing up drunk, dressing like Johnny Depp and trying to get Heard fired.
Aquaman 2, aka "Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom" is facing bad publicity after notes from Amber Heard's therapist Dr. Dawn Hughes surfaced on Reddit, per Variety. Heard, who plays Mera in Aquaman, has been largely cut out of the sequel coming to cinemas in December 2023.
According to rumors, Heard's parts were cut due to the defamation trial between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp and the horrendous effects it had on Heard's public image.
Jason Momoa Supposedly Showed Up Drunk On Set Dressing Like Johnny Depp
According to therapy notes from 2021, the Aquaman 2 set was a hostile environment where Jason Momoa, Aquaman himself, tried to get Heard fired. He also supposedly showed up on set not only late, but drunk as well.
According to the notes Momoa was "Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too." But while this sounds like Momoa was intentionally trying to trigger Amber Heard, according to Variety, a DC spokesperson has come out in defense of Momoa. According to the DC representative, "[Momoa] has always dressed in that Bohemian style" similar to Depp's. The same spokesperson also claimed that Momoa was professional and "works his ass off."
Neither Heard nor Momoa commented on the notes and allegations. James Wan, director of Aquaman, didn't comment either, although he's also negatively mentioned in the notes.
Heard actually was nearly fired after the first Aquaman movie and supposedly only a letter from Elon Musk "threatening to burn the house down" if Heard wasn't to return for Aquaman 2 got her the part again. Officially, she was about to be dropped from Aquaman due to "lack of chemistry" with Momoa.
The ongoing actors' strike may be a blessing in disguise for Warner Bros., as neither Momoa nor Heard have been available to promote the movie. That much at least has been keeping the drama contained to Reddit and Twitter.
