Preacher was pretty much everything The Boys is now, but back in 2016. Will chances for a season 5 increase, now that the show hit Netflix?
Before The Boys took over, Preacher prepared the path. The gory adaptation of the comic book series of the same name did everything The Boys is famous for now, just three years earlier and with fewer superheroes, which for some is a good thing.
With the show now airing on Netflix, it might catch a second wind and if there is enough hype, maybe we'll get the much anticipated season 5 for Preacher?
Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher in Texas, who becomes possessed by a mysterious power called Genesis, granting him the ability to command others.
Accompanied by his trigger-happy ex-girlfriend Tulip and a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy, Jesse sets out on a quest to find God, who has abandoned Heaven, and hold him accountable for his actions.
Preacher Season 5: How Likely Is It?
Sadly, it seems like even if the show turned out to be a success on Netflix, it's rather unlikely that they will continue it for another season.
The problem is that, although it was being rushed heavily, season 4 provided the show with somewhat of a conclusion. As we already mentioned, Preacher is a comic adaptation and with season 4 adapting the final story of the source material, there are no more stories to tell.
Okay, maybe not literally, as the showrunners skipped quite a few arcs on their way to the show's finale, but it would be kinda weird to address them now, that the show is over.
While there might be the possibility of continuing the show on its own, without any source material to adapt, it is not that likely. Perhaps we'll get a spin-off of the show, if viewer numbers justify another investment into the franchise, or maybe even a reboot down the line, but as of now things are looking grim.
