Gen V just introduced a new superhero in episode 4, and he's seems to be a mix between Batman and Iron Man, just a lot darker.
If you've ever wondered what a mix between Batman and Iron Man would look like, Gen V's got you covered. His name is Tek Knight, aka Robert Vernon, and he's not just a superhero and alumni of Godolkin University, but also an award-winning actor and investigator. You know, the usual.
But who is Tek Knight really, and is he even remotely as famous as Batman or Iron Man?
Gen V: Who Is Tek Knight?
Tek Knight, played by Derek Wilson, first shows up in Gen V in episode 4, and he doesn't really have the best reputation that a superhero could have. Although, is that really surprising in The Boys universe?
While he doesn't have any superpowers in the The Boys comics, just his supersuit, the same as Iron Man and Batman, in Gen V he has superhuman deduction skills. Since he was injected with Compound V at a young age, like the other superheros, he has extremely enhanced senses and most likely also superhuman strength. Oh yeah, and he also has a cool underground cave. Wonder who else has that?
If the cave doesn't make him enough like Batman, Tek Knight also has his own Robin: Laddio. We'll probably see him in The Boys season 4.
The creators also told EW that they wanted to make Tek Knight more like Batman than Iron Man in Gen V, unlike the comics. They intentionally decided not to add Tek Knight to earlier seasons of The Boys, as they wouldn't have been able to afford his Iron Man-esque suit. Instead, they wanted him to become more like Batman, but with a dark twist. Eric Kripke described the creation of Gen V's Tek Knight as:
He's a combo of both [Iron Man and Batman]. He has his own underground cave, [but] instead of Tony Stark, if we made him the world's greatest detective, then he doesn't need a big, crazy suit. We can have fun with true-crime shows and the inherent fascism of Batman.
Just like Iron Man and Batman, Tek Knight is no unknown figure in the The Boys universe.
While Tek Knight keeps up his superhero appearance by starring in four major motion pictures and hosting The Whole Truth on Vought+, he's also known to be pretty problematic.
For one, he can't keep it in his pants, due to a tumor in his head. He'll hump anything and everything.
Not only that, but he's known to make most problems worse by trying to help, and the people that he works with either end up dead, in a coma, or with a broken back.
He's been mentioned multiple times throughout all seasons of The Boys, so let's see if he'll make his way to The Boys season 4. Eric Kripke neither confirmed nor denied the addition of Tek Knight to season 4, so it seems pretty likely that he'll make an appearance.
Until season 4 comes out, make sure to stay tuned for more info about Gen V as the new episodes come out on Prime Video over the next couple of weeks!
