FIFA 22 Icon Moments SBC-Tracker: Which Icons Are Worth It?

Besides all the FUT events which take place every week in FIFA 22, the Icons almost get lost a bit... even though there are 105 of them! Each icon has four different versions that are released in Ultimate Team over a period of several months:

• Base Icons (since FIFA release)
• Mid Icons (since FIFA release)
• Prime Icons (since December 2021)
• Prime Icon Moments (since March 2022)

For many years, icons have been among the most popular cards in FIFA, and for good reason. Unlike FUT Heroes, which have a strong link to players from the same league, Icons link to EVERY player in the game and are therefore almost irreplaceable when building creative Weekend League squads. Of course, you want to play the strongest version of the icons and not some boring base icon, right?

FIFA 22 SBC-Tracker: All Icon Moments SBCs In FUT

At this point, the Prime Icon Moments versions of all 105 icons have been released, a few of which you can currently get by completing an SBC. If you need some more help completing those challenges, we have already done a detailed guide for you a couple of months ago. Right up front, though, we'd advise you to NOT just complete all the Icon Moments SBCs without thinking about them first. Some of them are more expensive than the player on the transfer market and therefore are not worth it at all. Just keep reading, and you will quickly know which challenges are worthwhile and which are not!

Following, you will find a list of all Prime Icon Moments SCBs which have been released in FIFA 22 so far. Besides an overview of each player, you will also find some arguments for and against completing each individual Icon.

Are The Icon Moments SBCs Currently Worth It?

Short answer: No. That's why we summarized them here and didn't write an individual paragraph for each legend. The SBCs featuring Eusébio, Garrincha, Rivaldo, Marcel Desailly and Fernando Torres are either too expensive or not worth it at all at this point in FIFA.

You should rather concentrate on getting all Summer Swaps tokens and exchange them for rewards. And if you're really up for some SBCs, the End of an Era Challenges are a much better alternative. Most of the cards actually look better and cost less as well. Unless EA changes their formula here, we wouldn't complete any of the SBCs until FIFA 23 launches later this year. Unless you want to throw your coins out of the window of course...

FIFA 22 Ruud Gullit Icon Moments SBC

Gullit is a real FIFA legend. But his card is forgotten at the latest when the Team of the Season comes around, because better cards simply come onto the market, some of which are 2 million coins cheaper.

You have to complete 15 (!) SBCs for this card. You really wouldn't be from this world if you gave away all that valuable fodder for Gullit. Sick player, yes, but invest the time and the coins for something else.

Is The Icon Moments Ruud Gullit SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

We're at the end of the FUT year and we've had so many good EOAE SBCs lately that you really shouldn't waste your coins on this Icon Moments Challenge. Just buy the Dutchman on the transfer market.

FIFA 22 Emilio Butragueño Icon Moments SBC

Emilio Butragueño is one of many former Real Madrid legends who are now playable as Icons in FIFA Ultimate Team. In 341 games he scored an impressive 123 goals and also contributed 6 assists – really good numbers back in the days.

In the early to mid game of FUT, Butragueño is obviously not a bad icon and very also popular within the community. However, as the end of the year approaches, you should trade him in for a meta striker.

Is The Icon Moments Emilio Butragueño SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

We are at the end of the FUT cycle and we got so many strong EOAE SBCs lately that you really shouldn't waste your coins on this Icon Moments Challenge. Just buy the Spaniard on the transfer market instead.

FIFA 22 Kaká Icon Moments SBC

Prime Kaká (around 2005 to 2009) was quite an exciting player to watch. A lot of people may not really remember him, which is why he's almost a little underrated these days. Just watch a video of his pass in the 2005 CL final, though.... a work of art.

Just because Kaká is Brazilian doesn't automatically makes him popular in FUT. In FIFA, he's always overshadowed by other legends like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or Zidane. It's a pity, because his card doesn't look that bad.

Is The Icon Moments Kaka SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

No, keep your hands off of it! The SBC is unfortunately way too expensive, the card is not even meta and you have soooooo many better alternatives at the end of Ultimate Team.

FIFA 22 Andrea Pirlo Icon Moments SBC

Andrea Pirlo is definitely one of the best midfielders of the 21st century. Unfortunately, the Italian maestro was never really as good in FIFA as he was in real life – for FUT he simply lacked the necessary speed as well as a strong finishing abilities. What about his Prime Icon Moments card, though?

82 pace is enough for a central midfielder, but Pirlo will probably never dominate the FUT meta. It's simply a card for fans and not for everyone – at least that's why he doesn't really cost that much.

Is The Icon Moments Pirlo SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

It's not a bad deal at all. Anyone who really wants to have Andrea Pirlo in their squad should complete the SBC to save some coins and get some decent packs along the way.

FIFA 22 Carlos Alberto Icon Moments SBC

Carlos Alberto is just one of many Brazilian legends who have found their way into FUT. Can the right-back hold his own against the strong competition, or is he one of the weaker picks for your ultimate team?

For a 94-rated Icon, his stats look rather disappointing. He's not the fastest defender in the game, not exceptionally strong defensively either, and not even particularly helpful offensively. We are a bit underwhelmed...

Is The Alberto Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

We strongly advise you not to complete this challenge! Even if you really want to play the Brazilian, just don't do it. You would have to spend so many coins for a mediocre defender at the end of Ultimate Team. It's just not worth it.

FIFA 22 Laurent Blanc Icon Moments SBC

Laurent Blanc was the real deal, back when the Frenchman was still active – with his height of 6'4", every opponent just had to respect his presence on the field. In Ultimate Team he is always among the more popular Icons as well...

The stats don't look too shabby, of course, but are they enough to keep up with the best defenders from Team of the Season, Fantasy FUT and all the other events? Probably not, if you want to build a high-end team.

Is The Icon Moments Blanc SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Very, very difficult to answer. Like most of the other Icons, Laurent Blanc is at least decent and won't be the Harry Maguire in any of your squads. Nevertheless, his Moments version is relatively weak and there are a bunch of much better central defenders in FIFA 22. So, to sum it up: solid deal, but not a must-have!

FIFA 22 Wayne Rooney Prime Icon Moments SBC

Wayne Rooney at his peak was one of the best English footballers of all time... and somehow he is still underrated, isn't he? Maybe it's because he was so successful with Manchester United while often failing badly with the English national team...

Icon Wayne Rooney is one of the newest additions to FUT and was released in FIFA 22 for the first time – since then, the Englishman hasn't really been one of the go-to meta players. There are simply more useful Icons in the game. Sorry, Wayne.

Is The Icon Moments Rooney SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

No, hands off this SBC! It's way too expensive and if you really want Wayne Rooney in your squad, just buy him from the transfer market. Besides, EA has already released some better alternatives anyway.

FIFA 22 Pavel Nedved Prime Icon Moments SBC

The current vice-president of Juventus Turin (Piemonte Calcio) was a really talented footballer even in his active days. He played for the "Bianconeri" for years, was the most valuable player in many games and was able to celebrate great successes with the team. Can he do the same for you in Ultimate Team?

Compared to some other icons, Pavel Nedved's stats don't blow us away at first glance. But it's still awesome to see that his Prime Icon Moments version is CAM, because this position fits him so much better than the wings. With his 5* Weak Foot he can distribute the ball in all directions and really take the game into his own hands.

Is The Icon Moments Nedved SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Theoretically yes, because the SBC is once again quite cheap and Pavel Nedved while not being one of the best players in the game, still provides a lot of creativity on the pitch. However, you can invest your coins much better during the Team of the Season. But in the end it's your decision.

FIFA 22 Paolo Maldini Prime Icon Moments SBC

Players like Paolo Maldini are few and far between in modern professional football. The Italian spent a total of 24 years – in other words, his entire career – at Milan and played almost every single match. For many fans, he is the best central defender of all time... and in FIFA 22, EA has now dropped his Icon Moments SBC.

For years, literally every FUT player got hyped when he saw Icon Maldini walking out of his pack. His combination of Pace, Physicality and above all Defending works just so damn well in the Weekend League! In previous years he was even more popular because a lot of the defenders lacked the necessary pace... but, as we all know, EA Sports changed the stats for FIFA 22.

Is The Icon Moments Maldini SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

We really don't want to sound like we are advertising FUT, but this SBC is once again worth it! EA Sports reacted to the lackluster first couple of Icon Moments SBCs in FIFA 22 and adjusted the price of the challenges accordingly – fortunately for us in the right direction. Sure, you will still need a lot of coins, but significantly less than on the transfer market!

FIFA 22 Eric Cantona Prime Icon Moments SBC

Eric Cantona was the headliner of the new icons in FIFA 21 – the hype was immense back then, because the stats on his cards looked mighty strong. He is played a lot in Ultimate Team again this year and now EA Sports has just released his Prime Icon Moments version as SBC. Please just be good...

Eric Cantona is one of the higher-rated icons and comes with a staggering overall rating of 94. I probably don't have to explain to any of you that the Frenchman really has what it takes on the field when you see these stats. He is simply a complete striker, virtually without weaknesses.

The Cantona SBC is a huge W for anyone who has to be extremely careful with their FUT coins and still wants to play with one of the meta icons. We really like what EA Sports is doing with the prizes in the last few days!

97 reflexes are without a doubt appropriate – Iker Casillas kept clean sheets with brilliant saves on more than one occasion in his career. He does the same in FIFA 22 – although goalkeepers are not as strong as they used to be at the time of release. But still, after numerous patches and title updates, Casillas is still a huge support for every team.

For relatively little money you get a player that you can easily play until the end of Ultimate Team. After that, you will head over to FIFA 23 anyways...

As a kid, Thierry Henry was my absolute favorite player! It was just magical to see him wearing the legendary Arsenal jersey and to play with him in FIFA 05. Those were damn good times! He's been an icon in Ultimate Team for a few years now and his card is still incredible!

The Prime Icon Moments card of Thierry Henry simply looks outstanding! 96 Pace, 96 Shooting, 93 Dribbling combined with 4* Skills as well as 4* Weak Foot – if that's not enough, we sure can't help you. The Frenchman's only weakness probably is his High & Average Body Type... c'mon EA, how about giving him at least a Unique Body Type for FIFA 23?

If you want to have the best player the Premier League has ever seen on your team, then the Thierry Henry Icon Moments SBC in FIFA 22 is definitely worth it! The price is fair (300K cheaper than on the transfer market!), the card is incredibly strong and the player is an absolute legend. Win-win-win situation in our humble opinion.

The challenge featuring Del Piero is definitely worth it, because EA has once again given him a fair price – good job! Especially if you still have tons and tons of bronze or silver players lying around in your club, you can save a lot of coins with this SBC.

Philipp Lahm is one of the best right-backs of all time! Period. With Bayern Munich he won everything there is to win, never got a red card in his whole career and it really felt like he never had a bad performance. Now his Icon Moments version has been released as an SBC in FIFA 22...

Comparedto his Prime Icon version (RB),he got a nice position change (CDM) with the release of Icon Moments – which is a big W for the 2014 World Champion. At 89 pace, he's almost too slow for a meta outside defender, but in central defensive midfield that's plenty.

Is The Lahm Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Yes, it is! For once, EA Sports has put a fair price tag on the SBC – completing the challenge (no matter which platform) will save you about 100,000 coins each! And then there are also packs worth at least 135K coins on top... so take your time, buy the players you need and just complete the SBC.

Unfortunately, we have to advise you not to complete the Baresi Icon Moments SBC in FIFA 22. If you really want to have the Italian on your team, you should just buy him on the transfer market instead – this will save you lots of time and money.

FIFA 22 Raúl Prime Icon Moments SBC

Raúl has played for Real Madrid for a whooping 17 years, even making it through the U17s and U18s – so the Spaniard can also be considered a living club legend. His real life stats are particularly strong in the Champions League, where he has 104 goal contributions in only 142 games.

Pace, shooting and dribbling are exactly what you're looking for... but is that enough to be one of the meta strikers in FIFA 22? It also depends on whether you're using a lot of crosses in Ultimate Team, because with 97 heading, he is definitely going to score a lot of goals!

Is The Raul Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Again, if you're only after the player, the SBC is probably not worth it. On the transfer market you can get Raúl much cheaper – but by completing the challenge you will get some packs... and with a bit of luck you will get much more value.

FIFA 22 Bastian Schweinsteiger Prime Icon Moments SBC

The German World Champion of 2014 gave his debut as an Icon in FIFA 21 and returns this year again in different positions. Bastian Schweinsteiger's Icon Moments version sees him playing as a right midfielder, but does that really fit?

His lowest stat is an 87, so that has to be incredibly strong, right? In theory, yes, but he would be much more useful as a central midfielder. Maybe the rest of his in-game stats can convince us otherwise.

Is The Schweinsteiger Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Unfortunately, we have some bad news for Bundesliga and Schweinsteiger fans: The SBC around his Prime Icon Moments variant is not worth it.

FIFA 22 Javier Zanetti Prime Icon Moments SBC

Javier Zanetti has been in the game since FUT 19 and was even used as a Central Defensive Midfielder (CDM) a few times. In FIFA 22, however, his four icon versions are either right- or left-back.

For a full-back, Zanetti has very solid pace, although there are definitely faster players in this position. What sets him apart from the competition, though, is his outstanding Passing and Dribbling.

Is The Zanetti Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

We can give this SBC a thumbs up. On all relevant platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, and PC), the challenge is cheaper than the actual market value of Javier Zanetti. You're getting yourself a decent deal and a good-ish right full-back for your team on top.

FIFA 22 Michael Owen Prime Icon Moments SBC

Now 42 years old, the Englishman has played for some of the best international clubs during his professional career. However, most people will probably associate him with his time at Liverpool FC – in his entire career, he scored a whopping 223 goals and provided 58 assists as well!

Michael Owen's combination of Pace (93), Shooting (92) and Dribbling (91) is particularly strong. He skillfully outplays his opponents, can outrun almost any defender in the game, and also stays cool in front of goal.

Is The Owen Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

At this point, it doesn't really matter whether you buy Michael Owen on the transfer market or complete his SBC. Since the latter is associated with significantly more effort, we are very much inclined to a direct purchase. But always keep an eye on the prices on the transfer market, they can rise or fall incredibly fast – Neymar has just recently clearly demonstrated.

FIFA 22 Ashley Cole Prime Icon Moments SBC

Ashley Cole was one of the best left-backs in the world during his time in the Premier League. Especially at Chelsea and Arsenal, the Englishman could really prove himself on the pitch. In the meantime, he has ended his career and is only playable as an icon in FIFA.

We think EA Sports should have definitely given him a higher rating – on ALL of his versions. As Prime Icon Moments, we believe a 92 to be more fitting, as there have hardly been better left-backs in the history of the Premier League... but well, Cole's card doesn't look that bad anyway.

Is The Cole Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Yes, absolutely! The Challenge is significantly cheaper on all platforms than Ashley Cole's value on the transfer market, and you get some exciting packs on top! Certainly worth the effort here.

FIFA 22 Socrates Prime Icon Moments SBC

Because of his name, Socrates is often called the philosopher among footballers. As a Brazilian, he naturally faces a lot of competition from other legends like Kaká, Ronaldinho or Ronaldo when it comes to a spot in the team – but how good is Socrates really?

His Shooting, Passing and Dribbling are just some of the best stats in the game. Seriously, only a few players exceed these stats and if they do, then only during the TOTY or in the Team of the Season.

Is The Socrates Icon Moments SBC In FIFA 22 Worth It?

Let's do the math, shall we? Socrates costs between 645,000 and 888,000 coins on the transfer market. For the SBC, on the other hand, you have to pay 1.25 to 1.37 million coins. For completing the individual stages, you'll get packs worth 185K coins... so unfortunately it's still not enough. Unless your club is full to the brim with high-rated players, the SBC would not be worth it.

Icon Moments SBCs In FIFA 22 – Leaks

The FIFA year is not over yet and in the last months before FIFA 23 we can probably look forward to many more Prime Icon Moments SBCs! But which Icons will come to Ultimate Team via SBC?
