100 Thieves have announced Project X which will see the game players become game developers.
Have you ever played a game and thought: I could make a better game than this? Well, you are not alone, and in recent times, those with the resources have begun crossing the line from gamer to developer. We have Dr Disrespect's Midnight Studio which is currently working on an FPS, and now esport organization 100 Thieves is getting in on the action, with the announcement of Project X.
Scant details were given about the project itself other than the fact that industry veteran Pete Hawley, who counts EA, Telltale, and Lionhead studios among his former employers, is joining as Chief Product Officer.
"We are going to make a game with our pros, with our creators, and with our community," said 100 Thieves President and COO John Robinson in an announcement video. 100 Thieves field teams across a range of esport titles including Valorant, Call of Duty, and League of Legends, and also have a number of content creators including streaming stars Jack 'CouRageJD' Dunlop and Rachell 'Valkyrae' Hofstetter.

100 Thieves Start Project X, Plan To Make Game
With founder and CEO, Matthew 'Nadeshot' Haag by his side, Robinson spoke of making a game where the players were intrinsically part of the development, though admitted actually making a game was "very hard".
Nadeshot thanks Riot Games' Valorant for inspiring the decision to move into game development. Playing that game on his stream and engaging with his fans had brought him back to his roots when he was a budding esport star in Halo and later Call of Duty where he made his name.
I just want to create moments and experiences that can make you feel the same way as I did as kid.- Nadeshot
There is currently no release date for 100 Thieves' game or even the shape that it will take but based on the background of Nadeshot and 100 Thieves, an FPS doesn't seem a stretch. Whatever shape it takes, with the incredible social reach of 100 Thieves and their army of players and content creators, you are sure to know about it.
More information is promised in time, with those interested asked to follow Project X on Twitter.
