The official release of Armored Core 6 is just a few weeks away and many fans are already hyped. But while this studio is legendary for making Souls, you shouldn't expect similar mechanics in Armored Core. Here is why.
The upcoming Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and many mech fans are hoping for a milestone of the genre. But, since the game is developed by the well known studio, FromSoftware, many players seem to be expecting another Souls-like game. Well, this won't be the case, here is why.

Armored Core 6 Won't Be A Souls Like Game
What do huge fighting mechs and a half naked man with a pan, rolling around, have in common? The same developers of course. FromSoftware holds many IPs and is very successful with their Dark Souls series. They basically invented a whole new genre with those games.
Now, we're seeing a lot of fans of the studio waiting for Armored Core 6 and clearly expecting a Souls-like. Well, this is just wrong, since Armored Core is known for an entirely different style of gameplay.
In Armored Core the player takes control of a massive fighting robot, with customizable parts, like weaponry and shields. The combat is much quicker and interactive than in the Dark Souls series or the highly successful Elden Ring.
Also, there won't be a constant ingame world to travel through, like in Elden Ring, but faster paced missions in a futuristic setting with different locations. The goal is simple, complete the missions, while destroying the enemies with a hellish weapon arsenal and try to look damn cool doing so.
One similarity might be larger boss fights, that could happen in the game.
Players who are looking for another Souls like game to play, after finishing the Dark Souls series or Elden Ring, might be sadly surprised by the changes when they jump into Armored Core 6. We're already somewhat worried about review-bombing from these quarters, but only time will tell.
It will be interesting to see how the game will be received once it's releases and if big FromSoftware titles, like Elden Ring, have worked as a sort of advertisement. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is set to be released on August 25, 2023, on PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series and PC.
