Assassin's Creed Infinity was confirmed by Ubisoft a few months ago, but very little is known about the next game in this long-running franchise. Now, a new Reddit leak has revealed that Assassin's Creed Infinity may not feature one massive open world.

Instead, the leak posted by u/Smooth-Earth2875 on Reddit, has revealed that Assassins Creed Infinity will be more of a "linear experience" with "semi open world levels like the Hitman games".

In fact, it seems that Assassin's Creed Infinity will be a collection of smaller games, all bundled up within one big live-service experience. We are yet to hear about whether this will replace more traditional Assassin's Creed games, like Valhalla or Odyssey, in the long run. However, the leaker did reveal that "Open world Assassin's Creeds will be developed at the same time as Infinity".

The full Reddit Leak reads as follows:

Though in the early stages of conceptualisation and development Assassins Creed Infinity is in a solid enough state that I can confidently describe what shape the game will take. Infinity is inspired by the Helix from Unity. Each entry will be a small linear experience with semi open world levels like the Hitman games and each assassins story will feature multiple missions. Ubisoft is also planning to remake and retell older Assassins Creed games in Infinity. It is still to early to determine what older games if any will be retold. Lastly a new story will be added overtime for an additional cost. Open world Assassins Creeds will be developed at the same time as Infinity.

What can be determined in the leak, however, is that, reportedly, Ubisoft plans on remaking older Assassin's Creed games within Assassin's Creed Infinity. We are yet to find out which games will be included, or whether any will come at launch, but this is a pretty exciting concept for such a long-established series.

Let's make something outstandingly clear, however: Assassin's Creed Infinity may not have a massive open world, but it also could. Why? Well, the leak could be illegitimate. All leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. It seems likely to be legit, though, seeing as the Reddit user who posted the leak was willing to provide his Ubisoft credentials and ID tag to prove his/her validity.

It is unknown whether he/she provided those details to the mods. That being said, as of writing, the mods have not removed the leak from the subreddit, which they would have if they had proven it was illegitimate. In addition, we already know that Assassin's Creed Infinity will be a live-service game, so what is described in the leak seems like a logical approach for Ubisoft to take.
