Remember when Atomic Heart was announced in May 2018? We don’t either. It was overshadowed by other games like State of Decay 2 and Donkey King Country. But four years have passed since the original announcement, and Atomic Heart is closer than you think.

Mundfish is developing Atomic Heart, with multiple games like Bioshock & Metro inspiring their development of this FPS. There’s even some inspiration from other games like Stalker & Nier, which creates an unbelievable experience, unlike anything we’ve seen before.

It isn’t surprising that Atomic Heart is a Soviet-Era FPS, as Mundfish originates from Russia. They have incorporated numerous stereotypes from the Soviet Era and expanded on them to create unique gameplay. For instance, there are sadistic robots with clown-themed torture chambers.

When asked about the storyline for Atomic Heart, Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni stated this FPS takes place between the 1930s and 1960s, with communism growing throughout the Soviet Union. However, things like the internet have already been invented & which adds an unexpected dynamic to the gameplay.

There’s much more to Atomic Heart than you could imagine, and we’re here to break everything down. But get ready; things are about to get weird!

Is Atomic Heart Coming Out In 2022?

Mundfish Studios have confirmed that Atomic Heart is coming out in late 2022. It will launch for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5, with additional support for the PC. But guess what? There’s more, as Atomic Heart is available on the PlayStation4 and Xbox One.

Game Setting, Story, And Everything We Know About Atomic Heart | All Leaks & Rumors

Atomic Heart is submerged within an environment of communism and confrontation, as the East & West have never-ending political battles. But this time, Russia is on the offensive by mass-producing robotic androids. These androids assisted with the development of agriculture and defense, with additional assistance being provided for timber composition.

We’ll play Major Nechaev of the KGB. He’s mentally unstable and starts to rebel against the Soviet Union. This proves unfavorable for Major Nechaev, as the Russian government begins to target his various locations. It isn’t until the KGB Agent begins to fight back that everything goes insane. We see robotic androids loving their programming while reanimated creatures roam the streets. You heard us right; resurrected animals like dogs will attack Major Nechaev.

We weren’t expecting that Mundfish Studios would confirm a love story for Atomic Heart, but that’s precisely what they did. However, it isn’t known how much this storyline will affect the gameplay. It’s likely only to affect one of two endings within this linear-based game. But nobody should be concerned, as Mundfish has shown gameplay footage from 2019 to 2021.

There’s an ecosystem of gameplay mechanics that’s similar to Bioshock. We’ll have access to various firearms and an unknown glove with magical powers. For instance, enemies can be frozen while shotgun shells are dispersed. This causes your foes to break into thousands of pieces without any hope of returning to life.

Additional gameplay mechanics were shown within the enemy ecosystems, as we saw security cameras working in a hive-like manner to hunt down Major Nechaev. If these hives cannot be disabled or hacked, death is imminent.

There is so much going on with Atomic Heart, it would be impossible to explain everything that’s happening. We would be here for hours discussing all the possibilities & potential of this game. However, this ensures that we’ll have countless hours of entertainment in Atomic Heart. We expect that Mundfish will dethrone 2k Games with Atomic Heart, as it looks more exciting than anything Bioshock. Plus, this upcoming FPS supports features like RTX Lighting and DLSS.

Game Trailer

It’s almost impossible to explain what’s going on in this trailer. It’s a conjunction of weird nonsense that introduces us to Major Nechaev and the futuristic Soviet Union, but that’s before we’re introduced to disturbing robots and zombie-like creatures.

Not only that, but it’s almost impossible to catch all of the many enemies shown throughout this trailer. There’s even a message that reads “Don’t Lose Your Mind”, indicating this upcoming FPS will be more disturbing & unique than anything we’ve seen before.
