It's time to explore the Western Frontier in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and assist the Na'vi in defeating their RDA enemies. Let's see if you are ready!
Lightstorm Entertainment, Fox Interactive, and Ubisoft Co. have partnered to develop Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It was initially announced in 2017, but was delayed after Disney purchased Fox Interactive in 2019 for $71.3 billion.
Five years have passed since the original announcement from Ubisoft, with more information occasionally being released. For instance, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is confirmed as an open-world action-adventure game for next-generation consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
It’s rumored that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will share gameplay similarities with the Far Cry franchise. This would suit the gameplay mechanics that Ubisoft is known to provide in their games.
Ubisoft Shanghai & Ubisoft Düsseldorf will want to seclude themselves from Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto to ensure that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is different than Far Cry 6. Therefore, gameplay mechanics could be similar in Avatar, while coincidentally being different from Ubisoft’s Far Cry.
Is Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Coming Out In 2023?
[Update, July 21, 2022]
Tom Henderson, you lied to me. We recently reported on a leak by the man himself, who is usually reliable and correct. Turns out, that every man misfires sometimes. Ubisoft revealed the release date for the Avatar game, and it's much later than we thought.
According to a new sales report, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will release in 2023-24, meaning that it will take at least until March 31, 2023 until we can finally play the game. God damn, I guess it wouldn't be an Avatar project without endless delays, eh?
[Update, July 5, 2022]
Our favorite leaker Tom Henderson has tweeted, and you all know what that means: we report on it. It's Tom Henderson, after all. He's right a lot of the times (he predicted the name for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf before it released, just saying).
I don't know the release date, btw. To speculate though, Nov 11th would be my guess. The next Need for Speed installment is due to launch on November 4th and sources have suggested that the current plan for Ubisoft's Avatar title is due to launch on November 18th.

So Henderson speculates (and that's the keyword) that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will release on November 18th. The new Avatar movie will release in December, by the way, so for the game to release in November would kind of make sense. It's months of hype for the franchise!
[Original Article]
Ubisoft revealed that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will launch between April 2022 and March 2023. However, we speculate that Ubisoft is postponing this upcoming game. Numerous reporters had believed that Ubisoft cancelled Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora before an announcement trailer was shown in June 2021.
Twelve months have passed without any additional information. This isn’t surprising considering that Ubisoft has focused on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and Rainbow Six Extraction. It’s noted that Ubisoft will also launch the following games in 2023:
We’ve speculated that Ubisoft is postponing the launch of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to coincide with James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. If you didn’t know, James Cameron has another three films in development for this franchise, and the upcoming sequel is slated to release by December 16th 2022. It would be shocking to see Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launch any later than that date.
Game Setting, Story, And Everything We Know About Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
Unfortunately, Ubisoft has remained quiet about the narrative for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The announcement trailer was more about showcasing the beauty of Pandora than the gameplay of Avatar. However, we noticed the inherent bond between Na'vi and their fellow species is a critical component of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It’s expected that we will need to protect these animals in numerous circumstances as the RDA looks to eliminate the prehistoric humanoids of Pandora.
Gameplay footage shown throughout the announcement trailer suggests the gameplay mechanics are similar to Far Cry. However, Ubisoft promises that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is considerably different in terms of story and gameplay. It’s guaranteed that this upcoming game isn’t connected with James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. Instead, Ubisoft has developed its storyline within a never-before-seen location in Pandora.
Ubisoft is designing new creatures and locations for the Moon of Pandora, which should lend to the immersion factor for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It’s noted that the Western Frontier of Pandora has been selected as the specific location for this upcoming game.
Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Shanghai, and Ubisoft Düsseldorf aren’t limited in their development of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Instead, the Disney Corporation and Fox Interactive have provided Ubisoft full clearance to develop what is necessary for this upcoming game. In turn, Ubisoft’s creative freedom will yield better results in terms of gameplay.
Is Avatar Coming To Xbox Series X/S And PC?
The Ubisoft Corporation has announced the available consoles for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and good news for Microsoft, as the Xbox Series X/S is supported. It’s also noted that Ubisoft is releasing Avatar onto the PC and PS5. Therefore, next-generation consoles are being flat-out supported for this upcoming game.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is developed on the Snowdrop engine. You can expect numerous features to be available through the Snowdrop engine, including RTX Lighting for PC players.
Is Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Part of The Game Pass On Xbox?
Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will launch onto the Xbox Game Pass. We know that Ubisoft’s Assassin's Creed Origins and Rainbow Six Extraction are available for download now. Still, there haven’t been any announcements to suggest the same treatment will be taken for Avatar.
This should change as more information is released about this upcoming game. We are confident that Ubisoft and Microsoft will launch Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora onto the Xbox Game Pass. It’s just a matter of when that’s all.
Game Trailer
What an incredible trailer filled with beautiful graphics; it almost takes your breath away, as there’s an immediate sense of this game being located in Pandora. You cannot help but become immersed in the Na'vi’s home world, as beautiful creatures and fauna spread out through an expansive landscape.
This makes the announcement trailer feel more than what it is, and we couldn’t be happier. We’re expecting a similar reaction from you.
