Baldur's Gate 3 has just been released, but before you rush away to get yourself a copy, let's take a look at the reviews. Spoiler alert, Baldur's Gate 3 reviews are phenomenal, with most critics seeming to agree that this is the best CRPG of all time.
Baldur's Gate 3 reviews were always going to be positive. Larian have a fantastic track-record, and this time around they had the official D&D license to work. Plus, we also kind of knew how popular all the genital options and bear sex would be.
However, we never expected the reviews to be quite this good. Baldur's Gate 3 is looking like it has serious Game of the Year potential...
The Reviews Are In For Baldur's Gate 3
At the time of writing (August 6) Baldur's Gate 3 currently has a metacritic score of 9.3 from users and 94% from critics. That is the 7th highest user score of all time on Metacritic for PC games. And the critic score isn't bad either (joined for 12th best of all time alongside Elden Ring).

ZTGD gave Baldur's Gate 3 a phenomenal score (95/100) and compared it to a session of DnD:

We Got This Covered gave the game it's lowest rating so far on Metacritic (90/100), and drew attention to some of the bugs:
Baldur's Gate III sets a new gold standard for RPGs in the modern age. Though it has its fair share of buggy problems, the vibrant world, intriguing storytelling, and captivating gameplay more than make up for its shortcomings.
