"We Want To Bring This Amazing World To Life" New Black Panther Game Announced By EA

A new Black Panther game has just been announced by EA. It will be developed by one of their new studios, Cliffhanger Games. Here is what we know so far about EA's Black Panther.

With Spider-Man 2 arriving later this year, and Fortnite doing yet another collab, superhero fans are spoiled for choice in the world of gaming. But guess what? They're being spoiled even more!

  • If you like superheros, consider The Boys on Amazon Prime (which pretends to undermine the whole genre but ends up relying on all the same tropes).

New Black Panther Announced, To Be Developed By New Studio

EA have opened a new studio in Seattle called Cliffhanger Games, and this studio's first assignment is to make a "a single-player action-adventure game based on Marvel’s Black Panther." As they explain in the announcement:

Cliffhanger has already brought together accomplished talent with leaders from the critically acclaimed and innovative action-adventure game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, along with veterans of top franchises including Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty and others. “We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do”.

So, it's the devs who worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (green flag) making a "story-driven" superhero game that gives players "control over their narrative". We are cautiously optimistic for this game, although if this is just a first announcement, then we will need to wait until 2025 at the very earliest for release. EA have not given any specific release date yet themselves.

The only thing EA have given away so far is a 10-second reveal:

What do you think about this approach to Black Panther? Does it sound promising to you, or like a complete piece of trash?

This is how well EA did with their last Triple-A:
