Zelda Breath of the Wild was missing one feature: Co-op play. Now, the co-op function will be added thanks to a split-screen mod.
Don't say it around hardcore Zelda fans, but Genshin Impact can seriously compete with Breath of the Wild, and definitely has it beat in one area: The multiplayer aspect. That's not particularly hard, since Breath of the Wild doesn't have multiplayer, but it doesn't make it any less true. Now, this will all change: Thanks to modders, Breath of the Wild is getting split-screen co-op.
Breath of the Wild Adds Split-Screen Co-Op
The savior in question goes by the name of Kirbymimi, and his mod will introduce split-screen to Breath of the Wild on July 29. Of course, since Nintendo is a little stiff when it comes to open-hardware, don't go expecting any of this on any official Nintendo hardware. Still, the dream of playing Breath of the Wild with a friend is alive - if you can bear not doing it on the Nintendo Switch. Don't believe me? Watch:
Now, with Breath of the Wild 2 set to feature Princess Zelda as a partly playable characters, many are still hoping that the sequel will eventually get an official co-op DLC. Only time will tell, but if you don't have the means to get this Breath of the Wild split-screen co-op mod, then there's always Genshin Impact...
