CS:GO is soon a thing of the past as it's going to be replaced by Counter-Strike 2 in esports. Get ready for one of the few remaining tournaments for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at Gamers8! Learn everything about the competing teams, the schedule and even more.
With a prize pool of an incredible $1,000,000 the CS:GO tournament at Gamers8 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) is one of many highlights of the Esports festival. From August 16 to August 20, sixteen top teams from around the world are going to compete against each other.
Here's everything you need to know about the matches, including the schedules, team info and where to watch the tournament.
Competing Teams
The format of the tournament is pretty simple: it's a single bracket, the matches are best-of-threes Here are the teams fighting for glory:
- 9INE
- Apeks
- Cloud9
- ENCE
- FaZe Clan
- Fnatic
- FURIA Esports
- G2 Esports
- GamerLegion
- Heroic
- MIBR
- Natus Vincere
- Teams Falcons
- Team Liquid
- Team Vitality
- Virtus Pro
Team Vitality are the current champions and won the last Major Championships in May 2023, winning against GamerLegion – a rematch at the Gamers8 finale is certainly possible.
Quite surprising is the absence of established teams like MOUZ, Ninjas in Pyjamas or Astralis. Let's see if the three regional qualifier teams (Fnatic, MIBR and 9INE) can make up for that!
Bracket & Schedule
The tournament begins on August 16 with the first six matches. On August 17, G2 Esports vs. 9Ine and FaZe Clans vs. Virtus Pro will complete the first elimination round, followed by the first quarterfinal. The remaining three quarterfinals will be held on August 18, leaving the semi for August 19 and the grand finale for August 20.
As an elimination tournament, one bad day could mean the end for any team, so there's a good chance for completely surprising outcomes in every single match.
Team Vitality Remains Victorious
The Major Championship wasn't enough for Team Vitality. In the final match against Ence, they claimed their next big title and won 2-1 against Ence.
It's not only glory and an amazing experience at Gamers8 Team Vitality takes home, but also the top prize of $400,000.
