A Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mode was desired by players since the game's release. Will our dreams finally come true thanks to the release of the big update 2.0 and the new Phantom Liberty DLC?
Back when Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020, many players complained that the game was quote on quote "unplayable" due to performance issues. Still, fans were hoping that CD Projekt Red, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 (as well as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ), would release a multiplayer feature for the game.
Since the release was kind of a mess, it's understandable that CD Projekt Red placed all their focus on making the game playable first, before adding other cool knickknacks to Cyberpunk 2077.
The thing is, it's been almost three years since Cyberpunk 2077 was released, and we still haven't gotten an option to play multiplayer with our friends. Now, it's becoming ridiculous.
So, with the release of Cyberpunk 2077's BIG update 2.0, as well as the Phantom Liberty DLC, players are hoping that CD Projekt Red will finally add a multiplayer mode to the game, but will they?
Cyberpunk 2077: Is Multiplayer Being Added To The Game?
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though CD Projekt Red will be adding a multiplayer option to Cyberpunk 2077, at least not currently. Originally, CD Projekt Red had announced on Twitter that Cyberpunk 2077 would be getting a multiplayer mode, and that the development of that game feature was already in the works.
1/2 Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we're getting closer to launching 'single player' Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we'd like to confirm that multiplayer's in the works! It has been almost three years since the game's original launch, and this update is almost certainly the last of this size that we'll ever get, so it's now or never. But sadly no multiplayer mode is coming with Cyberpunk 2.0, so we think it's highly unlikely that we will ever get an official multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077.
If you still really want to try playing the game with your friends, there are modders working on a multiplayer option for Cyberpunk 2077. One team known as CyberScript had already shown test footage of their multiplayer mod, but it will probably take some time until the finished mod is released. But, that may at least be an option for players in the future.
While we may not be getting a multiplayer mod just yet, perhaps we'll get it if we wait until Cyberpunk 2077's 3.0 update! Who knows...
This doesn't mean that we won't be getting great additions to the game, especially with the DLC! If you're interested, check out our other articles on Cyberpunk 2077 and its new Phantom Liberty DLC (spoilers: Idris Elba is being added to the game as well!!!)
