Get excited people! The Alien chapter is coming soon, and we can already take a look at the new killer, survivor and map in the PTB that was released yesterday. Spoilers: it looks amazing.

After the latest killers being sort of let-downs – I'm looking at you, Skull Merchant – I think this chapter will be a positive surprise. You can really tell the devs put a lot of love into this DLC.

Dead By Daylight: What We Can Expect From The Alien Chapter

This year has a lot of extraterrestrial content in store for us, and I'm not mad about it. After chapter 28 brought us Gabriel Soma and The Singularity, as well as Soba Landing (which was very well received by players, might I add), chapter 29 will bring us new content set on a different planet.

New Killer: The Xenomorph

The Xenomorph combines similar features to those of The Demogorgon and The Dredge.

Starting off, The Xenomorph is a bipedal killer with the ability called Hidden Pursuit, which allows it to access a series of tunnels spread across the map. It can enter these tunnels through Control Stations. Once the player enters the tunnel system, they navigate through the slimy, narrow corridors themselves.

When The Xenomorph is not on cooldown, his special ability Runner Mode activates. Once it enters Runner Mode, the alien runs around on all fours and gains the ability to use its brutal tail attack, which has a higher attack range than its normal M1 attack.

Survivors can also interact with the Control Stations to gain a Remote Flame Turret (fancy words for flamethrower). If the killer enters the radius and line of sight of a placed Turret, the Turret will begin to shoot flames at The Xenomorph to knock it out of its special ability.

If this attack is successful, or if the Turret fires for too long, it will overheat and must be repaired by a survivor in order to shoot again, as long as the killer has not already destroyed it.

The addition of the Remote Flame Turrets is the first time survivors have the chance to actually attack the killer with a weapon, which is pretty cool.

New Killer Perks

Along with its exciting abilities, The Xenomorph adds three new perks to the game:

Ultimate WeaponWhen you open a locker, this perk activates for 30 seconds. Survivors entering your Terror Radius scream and reveal their position and gain Blindness for 30 seconds. This perk then goes on cooldown for 40/35/30 seconds.

Rapid Brutality

You can no longer gain Bloodlust. Hitting a Survivor with a basic attack gives you 5% haste for 8/9/10 seconds.
Alien InstinctThis perk activates when you hook a Survivor. You see the aura of the farthest injured Survivor for 5 seconds and that Survivor is oblivious for 16/18/20 seconds.

The Xenomorph is the first non-bipedal killer the game has introduced. It seems killer designs are heading in a new direction, and this could possibly be the beginning of a four-legged killer era.

New Survivor: Ellen Ripley

Warrant officer Ellen Ripley reporting for duty! Thinking she had beaten the alien aboard her ship, the Nostromo, Ellen entered her hypersleep chamber to get to safety... but instead entered the dark fog and joined Dead by Daylight.

While her character isn't modeled after her original actress, Sigourney Weaver, she is created as her likeness.

With her introduction to the campsite, Ellen brings along three new perks:

Lucky StarWhen you hide in a locker, this perk activates. You leave no pools of blood and make no grunts of pain for 10 seconds. When you exit the locker, you see other survivors and the closest generator's aura in yellow for 10 seconds. This perk then goes on cooldown for 40/35/30 seconds.
Chemical TrapAfter completing 70%/60%/50% progress on any generator, this perk activates. While standing next to a dropped pallet, press the Active Ability Button 2 to install a Trap, which stays active for 100/110/120 seconds. The aura of trapped pallets are revealed in yellow to all Survivors. When the Killer performs the break action on the trapped pallet, the trap explodes, and they are slowed by 50% for 4 seconds.
Light FootedWhen you are healthy, this perk activates. Your running footsteps are silent. This perk goes on cool-down for 28/24/20 seconds after doing a rushed action.

New Map: Nostromo Wreckage

Welcome to the Nostromo Wreckage! This map is part of the Dvarka Deepwood realm, that was introduced in the release of chapter 28: End Transmission.

This hybrid indoor-outdoor map is slightly smaller than the Toba Landing map, but is just as gorgeous.

Nostromo Wreckage is the second map that is set on a different planet than Earth. Dvarka Deepwood is also the first realm to not have an offering that is realm-specific. Both Toba Landing and Nostromo Wreckage have individual offerings.

If you run around the map, you can spot quite a few Easter eggs, left by the devs, so if you don't want to spoil yourself, skip this next part.

Fans of the Alien-franchise will remember warrant officer Ripley saving the crew's cat, Jones aka Jonesy, from the slimy claws of The Xenomorph in the original movie. Well, it appears as though Jonesy was also engulfed by the dark fog - because you can see him wandering around the Nostromo Wreckage. Naturally, this smart little cat doesn't want to be found, so you can only find him in lockers. It seems as though it's random, in which lockers he appears, but only upon the wreckage.

But that's not the only place Jonesy appears: you can also find him at Ellen Ripley's feet if her character idles around long enough in the game lobby. She even interacts with him!

If you walk around the map as a survivor, there is a chance you might encounter a face-hugger. If you walk near a specific window upon the ship, the lights begin to flicker and a face-hugger will launch itself at the window before running off again.

I've heard there's a secret room you can access, just like on the Midwich Elementary School map. Try and find out how you can get inside!

I'm sure the DbD developer team added even more Easter eggs to the game. So be on the lookout!

You can definitely tell the devs have been working hard on this new chapter and I can't wait to see how it plays out, once it officially releases at the end of August.

Let's see if we have as much fun with this update, as we did when Nick Cage was added to the game.
