After years of silence, Dead Island 2 finally got a release date a few months ago. Now the game was hit with another delay, because of course it did.
Dead Island 2 seems like the kind of game that is just not supposed to come out. It has been in development for a long time, with it first being announced in 2014. Then it suddenly came back from the dead at Gamescom 2022 and got a release date in February 2023. But, the curse strikes again, and so the game has been delayed yet another time.
Dead Island 2 Pushed Back By Several Months
Dead Island 2 was slated for a release on February 3, 2023. But now, the game has been pushed back to April 23. What's a few months after almost a decade of waiting, right? Still, this is obviously not just a shame, as we are really excited for the game, but also just really funny, considering the game's history.
The endless wait for some games is not the only struggle gamers have to deal with:
And the developers at Dambuster Studios seem to be aware of that, judging from the note they posted with the announcement:
"The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now; we're going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we're proud to launch."
It was also announced, that the game will get another showcase on December 6, where we will see more about it. Let's hope it will keep fans happy enough, and let us forget that we will have been waiting for this game for 9(!) years...
