Diablo IV has become the most anticipated RPG for thousands of players. But what do we know about Diablo IV? Can your PC run it? Let's find out.
When Blizzard confirmed they’d be releasing the fourth installment into the Diablo franchise, thousands of gamers expressed their excitement. Even I was interested in seeing what Blizzard could accomplish with Diablo IV. However, Microsoft recently purchased Activision and Blizzard and that acquisition could make Diablo IV an exclusive title to the Xbox Series S or X.
Minimal information & gameplay has been released since Diablo IV was announced at BlizzCon 2019. I’d be lying when saying this isn’t disappointing, as Necromancers and Paladins like myself are clamoring for more information. Fortunately, Blizzard has provided details on the upcoming classes and character customization system.
Everything you’ll need to know & understand about this game is identified below. Trust me, gameplay features like PVP Zones will surprise you as they did myself.
Is Diablo IV Coming Out In 2023?
Blizzard Entertainment has encountered multiple delays throughout the development of Diablo IV. The former game director was terminated after being accused & confirmed of workplace harassment. This prompted Luis Barriga into being fired and replaced by Joe Shely, who clarified that Diablo IV won’t release until the earliest of 2023.
Unfortunately, details regarding which consoles & gaming platforms are being selected for Diablo IV hasn’t been identified by Blizzard. I’m confident the fourth installment will launch onto the PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. However, I'm not sure that Diablo IV will release onto the PlayStation 5 after Microsoft acquired Activision and Blizzard. Regardless, I’m hopeful that Microsoft won’t eliminate an entire market from experiencing what’ll surely be an incredible RPG.
Game Setting & Story For Diablo IV
The Sanctuary has struggled to survive amidst the dark ages. However, the Denizens have rebuilt themselves some semblance of everyday life. When everything starts becoming better, that’s when ancient enemies, forgotten for about a millennium, will return.
The Daughter of Mephisto regains her powers after millions were slaughtered & utilizes her strength to empower demonic thoughts into the Sanctuaries Denizens. She’ll create the most horrific soldiers that Diablo has ever seen. It’ll be our job to eliminate these opponents or join their forces.
Gamers have identified five storyline elements for Diablo IV. Those include:
- The Legends of Creation
- The Reign of Enmity
- The Cult of Personality
- The Daughter of Hated
- The Unstoppable Fear
How these storylines will play throughout the missions & lengthy gameplay hasn’t been identified. However, I’m anticipating this storyline will conclude after twelve hours. Remember, Diablo III took roughly ten hours to complete. I wouldn’t expect Blizzard to double that timeframe. It’d be somewhat unconventional for this franchise.
Is Diablo IV Getting Released Onto Xbox And PC?
Absolutely. There are no doubts that Microsoft will launch Diablo IV onto the Xbox and PC. That’s because this international corporation maintains ownership of Activision and Blizzard as of January 18th, 2022. I’m anticipating that Microsoft will authorize Diablo IV onto the PlayStation 5, potentially even the Nintendo Switch. But special editions & preorder packages would become exclusive to the Xbox and PC. This would allow Microsoft to maximize their profits without targeting other brands for failure.
I’d like to remind everyone that Diablo IV is releasing as a next-gen game. That means you’ll need the latest graphic cards to have smooth frame rates at 120FPS. I would suggest upgrading your computer to the Nvidia GeForce GTX 3060, as this graphics card hasn’t disappointed me since purchasing it last year.
Is Diablo IV Part Of The Game Pass On Xbox?
Personally, I’ll be downloading & playing the 4th Diablo on my Xbox Series X. Why, might you ask? Because Microsoft will release this title onto their Game Pass. In turn, I can avoid any requirements to preorder or purchase this title. But there aren’t any guarantees that Diablo IV will be a “Day One” launch for the Xbox Game Pass.
Everything We Know About Diablo IV So Far: All Leaks & Rumors
When Diablo IV releases, we’ll have access to four starting classes that will expand when the DLC is launched. Those starting classes include the Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, and Sorceress. How will we interact with these characters? What capabilities will they maintain on the battlefield? That’s something we won’t fully know until Diablo IV is launched in 2023/24. Luckily, Blizzard has provided some details regarding these classes.
- Barbarian: Return to the Sanctuary as the Barbarian, a character class with tremendous strength & an extensive arsenal of weapons.
- Druid: Blizzard announced the Druid during BlizzCon 2019. This character class allows gamers to shapeshift into wolves or bears while also having powers based on natural elements.
- Rogue: We haven’t seen the Rogue return since the original Diablo. It’s a welcomed addition that has me intrigued. Why, might you ask? These characters can conceal themselves from enemies by entering the shadow realm. The Rogue also maintains assassin-like capabilities and can exploit his enemies' weaknesses.
- Sorceress: I’ll end with the Sorceress character class, which allows for elemental spell casting. This will unlock skills that enable us to hurdle fire & lightning towards our opponents. But I’m choosing to protect my teammates with healing spells found within the Sorceress class.
Customization has become a defining component with Diablo IV. It’s been confirmed by Blizzard Entertainment that an extensive character customization system is being developed. We’ll have hundreds of armor pieces, facial decals, facial features, and body characteristics to pick from within this system.
This means we’re being introduced to the most customizable version of Diablo in history. For instance, altering the facial features of your characters is new for this franchise. We’ll be capable of genuinely recreating ourselves for the first time in Diablo IV.
Is Diablo IV Getting An Online Mode?
Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that Diablo IV is exclusively available through multiplayer lobbies. We’ll compete across a shared open-world environment that hosts multiple servers. So the competition this time around is much bigger than expected. I’ll see you in the PVP Zones, but be prepared; I’m not going to go easy on you.
Game Trailer and Demo
An ominous & dark gameplay trailer launched for Diablo IV on November 1st, 2019. It showed a world plagued by darkness, causing families to turn against each other & become enemies. There’s nothing but pure hatred behind this world. But can we help stop that hatred? Can we find beauty inside this evil? Only time will tell.
Game System Requirements
Blizzard Entertainment, Activision, and Microsoft haven't identified the specific requirements involved with operating Diablo IV on your gaming rig. Fortunately, I've assessed which PC components can operate this upcoming RPG. The good news? Almost everyone can experience this upcoming game at 30FPS. But the strongest gaming rigs will operate Diablo IV at 120FPS with high-resolution textures, dynamic lighting, and so much more.
