Possibly the best game in spring 2022? | © Techland

Dying Light 2 is one of the most anticipated games of 2022. So it's no wonder that so many players want to grab a copy before the release date. Techland's first zombie game made a lasting mark on the zombie genre with its mix of survival and parkour elements. And Dying Light 2 is shaping up to be a worthy sequel – at least from what we've seen in the gameplay that was leaked early.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will not be officially released until Friday, February 4th, 2022. However, there are some retailers who already shipped the game, so one or two copies have already gotten into the hands of fans.

What Does The Leaked Dying Light 2 Gameplay Reveal?

Anyone who got their hands on one of the Dying Light 2 games early on didn't hesitate to share spoilers and gameplay with the internet. For Techland's sake, we don't want to go into too much detail about the leaks, but we'll scratch the surface.

Dying Light 2 Entry And Crafting System

The opening sequence shows how the world of Dying Light 2 came to be, and – like most zombie apocalypses – greedy corporations are to blame. The crafting system is damn similar to that of any survival game: you can use your “Survivor Sense” to collect materials and combine them with others to create makeshift tools and consumables.

Dying Light 2 Skill Tree And Abilities

As for the skill tree, your parkour skills will not only help you get around, but also unlock certain areas that were previously inaccessible. The battle sequences feature a variety of zombie types that don't necessarily match what we've seen so far. Gameplay videos are already on YouTube, but they will probably be removed very soon!

Dying Light 2 Story

Fortunately, we haven't learned too much about the story yet. Nevertheless, spoilers ahead! As most already know, Dying Light 2 takes place a few years after the first game, with society deteriorating even further after the first wave of infections. We play as Aiden Caldwell, who is tasked with tracking down his younger sister. Both Aiden and Mia were abused as children by the militaristic Global Relief Effort (GRE), which has gone to extreme lengths to cure and control the plague outbreak.Dying Light 2 introduces some new elements to make the story and the world more compelling. There are story choices in the game, but much like Cyberpunk 2077, t's hard to tell how much of a difference your choices make unless you play through the game a second time. Your decisions mostly relate to supporting civilians or supporting the authoritarian peacekeepers. The game doesn't rate either faction as better or worse, so you're free to do whatever you see fit. However, there is a third faction, the antagonistic Renegades, made up of criminals, mercenaries, and psychopaths, led by a villainous scientist named Waltz. Waltz is an interesting character who drives the story forward, but what exactly will happen is something you'll have to find out for yourself at this point…

Dying Light 2 Game Time

If you've seen the videos and are afraid you've been spoiled too much, don't worry. A maximum of about 2-3 hours of gameplay has been shown so far. According to Techland, you will have 498 hours of gaming fun. At least if you want to complete the game 100 percent. The main story alone will take around 20 hours and 80 hours if you want to complete all the side quests. So there's still more than enough to do!

Techland Are Asking Fans To Wait For Official Release To Play

On Tuesday, Techland almost admitted in a statement that Dying Light 2: Stay Human is already available in stores. They wrote that they couldn't be happier that fans want to dive into the world of Dying Light 2 as soon as possible. However, Techland also asks its fans to be patient and wait until the game is officially released worldwide before playing.

Despite the tweet, while we don't think it will stop fans who already have access to the game from playing, with any luck, fewer gameplay videos will find their way onto the internet. And to all those who are patiently waiting for the release on Friday, when the time finally comes: Have fun playing! It might even rival Horizon this February…
