New Horizon Forbidden West details were revealed, and they show of super-smooth traversal and climbing mechanics.
The original Horizon game was already smooth as eggs, but now a game preview at IGN showed off some new climbing and traversal mechanics that are even better. Who would've thought, huh? A sequel that actually improves upon its predecessor. Gotta love it.
Horizon Forbidden West Climbing & Traversal Mechanics
Obviously, climbing and getting across the map is a major part of the game. Like... literally half the game is climbing or moving, so the better it feels... well, the better the game is. Duh. Rocket science. From their exclusive preview, IGN reveals that Forbidden West has much more rocky terrain and that the new mechanics feel much closer to an Assassin's Creed game than the 2017 Zero Dawn.

Now, we would love to give our own insight into these new mechanics, but somehow Guerilla didn't send us any preview versions... Thus, we'll just have to take IGN's word for it, but, in any case, the Forbidden West release date isn't far away: The game is due on February 18 and will be coming to the PS4 and PS5.
Arguably, Forbidden West is the most anticipated PlayStation release in early 2022, and it's one of the biggest hopes Sony has, in order to compete with Microsoft's ever-growing presence. Sony is all about the exclusives, and this one will be huge in proving that the Sony IPs are still what they used to be. No pressure. No pressure at all.
