We knew that Cyberpunk would be getting a big update and a new DLC, finally we have more information on what to expect.
Not too long ago we got a full trailer of the upcoming Cyberpunk anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, but if that wans't enough content, we're now getting more official news on the upcoming Cyberpunk DLC – like a name for the DLC!
So, what exactly has been revealed and what do we know about this huge Cyberpunk update?
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - New DLC Info Announced
So, the name of the new Cyberpunk DLC is going to be Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. This is going to be a huge expansion on the existing game and while initial reviews of Cyberpunk had been bad, the game has since become a great sci-fi RPG.
What Is New in the DLC?
We are going to be able to explore a whole new area in the upcoming DLC. This new district of Night City will introduce new characters and faces, but also bring back beloved old ones, like our good friend Keanu Reeves, who also appeared in the broadcast earlier today to let everyone know that Johnny Silverhand will be back.
We're going to be focusing on the "New United States of America" faction in the DLC. We even got a new trailer where some of the upcoming characters are introduced. During the reveal, game director Gabriel Amatangelo explained:
We're having a lot of fun with [the DLC]. It's a new style of plot we're having fun with. New cast of characters expanding on a district in Night City where it primarily takes place.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Release
An official release date has not been confirmed yet, but we know that it's scheduled for 2023. The developers are likely taking their time with this DLC, learning from their previous blemishes when they released Cyberpunk 2077 way too early. Therefore, it's better to wait than to rush things, right?
What Platforms Will the DLC Be Released On?
Sorry PS4 and Xbox One players, it seems like CD Projekt Red have decided to forego the older platforms and are solely focusing on next gen. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will be released on PC, Google Stadia, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
This is going to be the first huge update to the game with a new story, new characters. Will we be getting some hints as to what is to come in the upcoming anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners? Who knows, but we're keeping our eyes peeled.
