One of the most hyped Steam games has to shut down after loosing over 46,000 players in just a couple of months.
Hype is a two-sided sword, a blessing or a curse. For the Steam game SUPER PEOPLE, it was definitely the latter one. The battle royal shooter lost over 46,000 players and has to shut down. A tragic end for one of the most hyped games on Steam in the last years. Here is what happened.

From 47,000 Players To 50: Super People Has To Shut Down
It was an absolute dream that came true for the developers of SUPER PEOPLE. Nearly 47,000 players were active on their battle royal shooter, and all their marketing work seemed to be worth it. The Hype for Super People was real, but that's the thing with hype, it comes and goes rather sooner than later.
And exactly this happened to SUPER PEOPLE, they hype went quickly to the next big thing in the gaming industry and the player numbers collapsed. At some point, only 50 people were actively playing the shooter, that never left the early access stage.

Now it's very likely that SUPER PEOPLE 2, yeah they renamed their game in the meantime, has to shut down. In a statement on Steam the developers, Wonder Games, announced:
Due to the game characteristics of Battle Royal, if the number of users decreases, the matching time increases, and matching cannot be fair, so we cannot provide the fun gameplay that we want.And Super People 2 also, the number of our users has decreased to the point where early access is no longer continued.We sincerely apologize for making this decision.We will not forget your love and memories through our communities and support center, and cherish them in our hearts.We hope to see you again with more improved games after the termination of Early Access.
It's very unlikely that the end of the Early Access means, that the full game will be available soon. The player numbers and the interest in general is way too low, to ground that game on a stable economic foundation.
SUPER PEOPLE 2 will now be remembered as another example of a hyped game, that couldn't deliver to or contain the interest of their players. The serves will officialy shut down on August 21. Rest in Peace.
