GTA 5 is headed straight to the PS5, and we finally got first glimpses at what we can expect.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X have better graphics than their predecessors, but I would say that that's not their most important feature. Rather than the much-touted graphics, I'd say that the system's faster loading times are the real difference maker. Naturally, then, this feature will also heavily affect GTA 5 when it comes to the PS5: The game runs significantly faster.
GTA 5 Is 75% Faster On PS5
IGN ran tests with their early versions of the Enhanced GTA 5, and confirmed that the game loads much, much faster on the PS5, with replay missions only taking about 5 seconds to load. Even more impressive is the difference in loading time for autosaves: They take roughly two minutes to load on the PS4 and 20 seconds on the PS5. Damn.
Of course, the Enhanced GTA 5 version is coming with more than just faster loading times: The game runs in 4K, features Ray Tracing at 30FPS, and even has a 60FPS mode that still runs at 4K. Also, the PS5's adaptive triggers will factor into the gameplay, while both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X will benefit from “increased population and traffic variety, increased vegetation density, improved lighting quality across shadows, water reflections, and other elements.”.
If you're not sure whether a GTA 5 PS5 upgrade is worth it, wait until you hear the price: You can preload GTA 5 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X already. For the PS5, the game is available for just $10 for the first three months, before increasing to $40, while the Xbox gets a three months discount of $20, before also selling for double. As far as the release date goes... the game will go live today, so you don't have to wait much longer - unlike for GTA 6, which... you'll be waiting forever for.
