Halo Infinite Campaign Co-op Coming Later Than Expected

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Joseph Staten, head of creative at Halo developer 343 Industries explained why campaign co-op is taking longer than expected to release.

So Halo Infinite is out, but you can’t play with your buddies in campaign co-op mode. The dream of booting up the game with your friends and going out there to play the campaign in co-op will have to wait a little longer, at least a few more months if we believe Joseph Staten, head of creative at Halo developer 343 Industries.

In an interview with Eurogamer Staten explained why the launch for campaign co-op and Forge multiplayer modes will be pushed back a few months.

Campaign Co-op to come out in May 2022

Both Forge multiplayer and campaign co-op have been pushed back to 2022 according to Staten. This comes after the game was released much earlier than anticipated, but because of the early launch, a few cornerstones of the game would have to wait until they go live.

In the interview, Staten explained that campaign co-op within Halo Infinite is playable, but the team wants to improve on it and make it more than a simple campaign co-op, but an experience:

We want to ship a campaign co-op that’s stable, that’s robust, that has the features players expect. And we’re also doing some other things that we haven’t talked about yet to really make meeting up with your friends, and you’re jumping into the game, good just not for campaign, but even better for multiplayer, too.

Therefore players will have to wait until Season 2 of Halo Infinite – so basically May 2022 – for the campaign co-op feature to be added, though this is also still tentative. Anything in development could still happen.

Forge Multiplayer Mode Delayed Until Season 3

For the Forge Multiplayer we’ve got even worse news for you. This is going to take even longer to be released. You’ll have to wait until Season 3 of Halo Infinite for this to launch according to Staten.

But wouldn’t you rather have a working game with usable and fun game modes or rushed and sloppy work? We all know what happened to rushed games like Cyberpunk 2077 right?
