How To Flurry Rush In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Defeat hard enemies easily: the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom "Flurry Rush" is still OP. Master dodging and parrying in TOTK. Just as in previous Zelda games, combat plays a big role. We tell you step by step how to Flurry Rush.

In games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, dying is something you really want to avoid while exploring the world of Hyrule. Since you can't back out of every fight, you have to learn how to dodge the enemies attacks and use it to your advantage instead.

That handy mechanic is called “Flurry Rush” and it will save you a lot of time when mastering it. It happens to work exactly as it did in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so you may already be familiar with this mechanic. Let's get into this little tutorial on how to use Flurry Rush!

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Flurry Rush Makes You Almost Invincible

To be able to master the Flurry Rush, you have to be quite quick and have at least decent reaction time! It is a combination of a perfectly timed dodge, combined with a follow-up attack to show your enemy that you can do more than just run away!

When you master the Flurry Rush, you are almost invincible, as you can counter-attack enemies while they are trying to hit you.

You will take a few hits before you will be able to do it every single time you want, so be prepared. But our guide explains it to you step by step, so let's go.

The Perfect Dodge in Zelda – Counter-Attack Your Enemies

To perform a perfect dodge, your timing has to be on point!

  1. Lock onto an enemy that you want to fight, by pressing and holding the ZL button. (Just like you would when trying to parry an attack.)
  2. Next, you have to be patient until said enemy wants to attack you. Watch him closely, or you may mess up the crucial timing.
  3. Now it's time for dodging! Tap the X-button to perform a jump when you feel like you hit the perfect moment. If you want to control the dodge direction, you can do so with the left joystick. In which direction you have to dodge depends on what type of enemy you are fighting.

Enemies that want to hit you in an up and down direction, or try to poke you, should be dodged to either the left or right side. If an enemy performs a swing motion while attacking, try to dodge backwards.

If your timing is right, you can gain the upper hand in fights, thanks to our trusty friend: the counter-attack! While dodging, you can press Y to perform Flurry Rush and attack your enemy, while he is still in this initial attack-motion.

You can only dodge melee attacks, so if you are facing a ranged enemy, consider running away or simply parry said attack with your shield.

Now you are all set to win each and every fight, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has in store for you!

If you need a touch-up on the Zelda: Breath of the Wild's storyline, you can do so in just 174 seconds!
