Zelda Tears of the Kingdom's fuse ability allows you to combine all kinds of items with your weapons. Depending on your fused item, you can create weapons with some pretty dope effects. Here is how to fuse items and get the most out of your weapons.
In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom , Fuse is one of the four new abilities, which are here to bring us lots of fun while exploring Hyrule or fighting off enemies. The other three being: Ultrahand, Recall, and Ascend. Check them out right here:

Out of all the new skills, Fuse is hands down the funniest one, at least in my opinion! It lets you unleash your creativity and make the most effective, yet oddly amusing combinations. Let your imagination go wild as you craft unique and weapons that can come in handy in any situation.
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How To Fuse Items
Fuse is literally a game-changer! It works as simple as it sounds: You fuse two items together, to profit off ofboth advantages each item has on its own. There is no weapon long enough for your needs? No problem, just fuse a stick onto another stick and start off the fight from far away!
Fuse Melee Weapons
Here is how to fuse melee weapons:
- Pick out the material, you want to fuse and drop it on the floor.
- Equip your weapon
- Press L to access your ability wheel and select the fuse ability, which is located in the bottom slot.
- Stand near to the object, you want to fuse to your weapon
- Press "Y" to combine the two.
There are almost no boundaries when it comes to funny combinations and really clever tool upgrades. Let's take a look at some examples!
Best Weapon Fuse Combinations
Hammer
You can basically attach a boulder to any of your weapons, but it makes the most sense to choose a less powerful one. Fusing a boulder to a stick results in a hammer that will destroy ore deposits or rocks easily. I personally use this combination on a daily basis for ore farming or anytime I enter a cave or trudge around in the Depths.
Elemental Powers
By attaching a ruby, a sapphire, or a topaz to your melee weapon, you can add fire, ice, and even shock effects to them.
Bouncy Weapon
By attaching any kind of mushroom to your weapon, you will give it an effect that gives your enemies stronger knock back when hitting them. This can be quite useful if you want to keep your enemies at a distance.

Fuse Items To Your Shield
Not only your melee weapons can get enhanced with items, but you can also attach them to your shield. It works exactly like fusing melee weapons, but instead of pressing "Y" to fuse the items together, you press "ZL".
Best Shield Fuse Combinations
Zonai Spring Device
Fuse a Zonai spring device to your shield and get a massive jump boost when performing the shield surf. Although the spring device will break after one use, this can be quite helpful whenever you need to reach a higher ground. Alternatively, you can also fuse a bomb flower to your shield, and it will have a similar effect, when shield surfing and the bomb blows up below you.
Rocket
If the jump boost doesn't get you high enough, you can also attach a rocket to your shield. When taking the fused shield out, the rocket will activate and boost you up very high in the air.
Elemental Powers
Just as the melee weapons, ores like ruby, sapphire, and topaz can be fused to your shield, resulting in different elemental effects. If you block an enemies attack with the ruby-fused shield, they will burn themselves, if they hit your sapphire shield, the enemy will freeze, and if they get in contact with the topaz, they'll get electrocuted. So, by fusing these ores to your shield, you don't even have to actively attack the enemy, just block them with your shield and they do the job by themselves.

Fuse Items To Your Arrow
Here is how to fuse an item to your arrow:
- Draw your bow by pushing down ZR
- Press and hold the upward button on your D-pad
- Select the item you wish to Fuse to your arrow
Best Arrow Fuse Combinations
Homing Arrow
Fusing a Keese eyeball to your arrow, will give you the ultimate aim assist. All you have to do is to roughly aim in the direction of your target and the arrow will automatically follow the enemy, resulting in a 100% hit-chance.
Bomb Arrow
As the name might take away, you can fuse a bomb flower to your arrow. That way, you can shoot this explosive plant on longer distances.
Elemental Fruits
- Firefruit + Arrow = Fire Arrow
- Icefruit + Arrow = Ice Arrow
- Splashfruit + Arrow = Waterbomb Arrow
- Shockfruit + Arrow = Shockarrow
Blinding Arrow
By shooting towards enemies with a dazzle fruit fused arrow, you will create a blinding that confuses enemies, giving you a perfect opportunity to attack them.
This is by far not every possible combination, but it is completely impossible to show you all of them! Hopefully this guide was a little aid for you to get started with fusing items, and now you got everything you need to try out all kinds of combinations.
