Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Everything We Know About The Sequel

The hype is real: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is, in fact, a thing and just around the corner. It's maybe the most immersive medieval RPG out there – here's everything we know about the sequel.

It's not just the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance that is absolutely massive, the rumors surrounding the highly anticipated sequel are as well. While we don't have a release date yet, we do know that the game is coming later this year!

In Kingdom Come, you play as Henry, a smith's son from Bohemia in the 15th century. After his hometown, Skalitz, is attacked by Cuman soldiers, Henry is one of only few people to make it out of the massacre alive. That's where his journey starts, and it's up to the player to make of his life what you will. What's it going to be? Honorable knight? Sneaky assassin? Bohemian Robin Hood? Murder hobo?

Known for the high immersion the game offers and the lovingly-crafted, massive open world, players have been waiting for a possible sequel to the game since 2018 at this point.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: New 'Saints and Sinners' Trailer Shows Familiar Faces

After we got the official reveal trailer a month ago, Warhorse has blessed us with a brand-new trailer for the Summer Game Fest 2024. The new 'Saints and Sinners' trailer shows us some familiar faces: first of all, the most important companion of good boys: Mutt! Our little dog we met in the DLC is still by our side. It also looks like Hans Capon and Henry have strengthened their friendship and are living their lives to the fullest - including the ups (drinking, having fun with girls) and downs (standing in the pillory and fighting the bad guys). Henry also seems to have grown up, following in his father's footsteps and working as a blacksmith himself.

The new trailer really shows off the clever humor we all love about Kingdom Come. The sequel looks very promising, and we cannot wait to see more of the game (and finally get a release date - please, Warhorse!).

Henry Returns And Continues His Mission With New Friends And Foes

According to the leak, Henry will come to visit us once again! That's probably better than having a new protagonist, as the first game literally ended with Henry's mission still up in the air – he still had his revenge quest going and his sword missing when he rode into the sunset at the end of the first game.

Now, we seem to get to see where his journey takes him from there. According to previous oopsies, we might even already know one thing or another about who he's going to meet on his new adventure.

The biggest (since deleted) hint regarding new characters is an Instagram post by bma_artists. In the post, they congratulate Richard Kiess on landing a voice acting gig as "the character 'John of Liechtenstein' in Kingdom Come 2."

The original post from May 2022 did not stay online for all that long, which is understandable, as this would have been the first confirmed source that KDC 2 is really happening. Considering how little news there is out there about the sequel, chances are that Warhorse have imposed strict NDAs on anyone they are working with.

What Could Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Be About?

Spoiler Warning for Kingdom Come Deliverence!

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is kind of infamous for not resolving the main plot line at the end of the game. To refresh your memory: Skalitz burns down, Henry's parents get killed, and the sword meant for Lord Radzig is stolen. The plot kicks off from that point, the end goal is always the same.

Revenge and the sword – the two main objectives throughout the whole game – are both missing. After hours upon hours of questing, at the end, Henry still just rides off into the sunset without having gotten his revenge or the sword.

That sounds like sequel bait with extra steps in my book. It isn't even "bait" at this point. The thing is: at the end of the game, Henry is kind of a one-man-army. Starting out as a smith's son who doesn't even really know how to hold a sword was one of the greatest things about the first game, because along with Henry, the player had to start from zero and learn everything.

The learning curve in Kingdom Come: Deliverance was immense. It didn't even matter how often you played the game, Henry will still be kind of a loser in the beginning. Until you take the necessary steps to level him up and practice fighting, you're doomed to die over and over again if you try to take on groups of bandits or heavily armored Cumans.

The sequel needs to find a way to get players into the world slowly again. Henry being the force of nature he was at the end of the first game simply won't do to get back into it. A simple way to solve that problem would be the tried and true formula of having him injured in the beginning, forcing him to take a step back, heal and relearning his skills.

However, Warhorse will handle that – we've got utter faith in their capability to release another amazing, immersive game with Henry. We'll keep you updated on any further news, as always!
