Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been long overdue for a remake for quite some time. Now it seems that it's announcement is imminent.
Do you remember Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Do you remember that ol' gem? That li'l beauty? Well, it's more of a big-boy, but either way, do you remember it? I certainly do, and I remember it well. Very well. If you remember it too, and if that remembrance is positive, then you are going to be very pleased by the news I am about to deliver you.
After months of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remaster rumours (wow, now that's some alliteration!), it seems to now be time for something a little bit more substantial. Whilst I don't have something specifically of substance for you today, I do have something with not too much substance but which is about something with substance. Today, I am all about the substances.
So what on earth has been going on? What is all of this bollocks all about? Aspyr has confirmed something whilst speaking during the Q4 Embracer Group report. What's that? Look, it's super important for the developers of Knights of the Old Republic but super boring to explain, so I honestly won't bother. What's important, though, is that Embracer Group owns Aspyr, so if they have made a promise, this news is darn-well legit!
When Will Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Be Revealed?
Matthew Karc, Board Member of Embracer Group, has confirmed that Aspyr's next game will be revealed "in the next several months". Aspyr developed the original Knights of the Old Republic, and it has been long rumoured that they were working on a remake. In fact, a few months ago, it was basically confirmed.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is pretty massive news, so you deserve to know a little bit more. Here's what was said:
Aspyr has gone all in to make this the best game that they can make. When we acquired Aspyr, we knew from the start that they would require our assistance. Saber has tremendous expertise in creating these types of products. We've done it on Halo — on multiple Halo products — we've done it on other titles that we've remastered over on other platforms.
We're fully confident that the game is going to be fantastic but it's a massive, massive product and massive products require a lot of effort and a lot of time to make good. And because we're talking about a very old game, we've basically had to remake that game from scratch. I would say in the next several months you'll be hearing more from us about it.
Before we go, let's break that statement down for you. Firstly, this story was broken by Push Square who also provided a rough translation that we have modified to increase readability. Secondly, they say that they are "talking about a very old game" and that this has resulted in the need for them to "remake the game from scratch".
Yeah, okay, we can probably call it (not really, this is unverified), they're totally talking about a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Right? Well, it certainly seems that way. In that case, we can probably expect an announcement over the next few weeks. That probably means this summer. We'll probably hear about this remake before summer's end!
