Before we get into the nitty-gritty of tech tips, here are some basic tips you might want to try first:

The most basic tip we can give you when facing computer/console issues is just: try turning your platform of choice off and on again. As simple as it sounds, sometimes you just forget to test that out, and it works more often than we would like to admit.

Another great basic tip is to just try and reconnect your controller to your PC. Either plug your wire in and out again, or turn your Bluetooth off and on again, perhaps that can help you already!

While these tips may help some players, others have underlying issues that may not have such obvious solutions. Depending on which type of controller you are using, you might experience different issues than others while playing Lies of P.

Players using Xbox controllers, for example, don't seem to have as many issues as players with PlayStation controllers. Nonetheless, if you're using an Xbox controller, and you're experiencing these same issues, try these tips out for yourself, too.

Use A Wired Connection While Playing

I know, I know, playing without a cable might be more comfortable to use while leaning back in your gaming chair, just so you can avoid that cable chaos hiding underneath your desk, but wired connections are more just more stable to use while playing.

If you are already using a wired connection to play, check out whether your USB-port might be your issue here. Switch your controller cable with your mouse or keyboard to see if you just have a faulty USB-port.

But, if you don't want to succumb to this tip, or you've seemed to have misplaced your controller cable, or whatever other reason, there is still as solution for you, don't worry.

Steam Input

If you're still facing issues with your controller, and you've downloaded the game off of Steam, perhaps Steam is the issue here. Check if these settings are active already:

  1. Open your Steam library.
  2. Look for Lies of P in your library and right-click on it.
  3. Click on properties.
  4. On the left, click "controller".
  5. Next to the "override for Lies of P", click on the dropdown icon.
  6. Set it to either "Enable Steam Input" or "Use default settings". Both settings should work.

Try testing out your controller in Lies of P again. Enabling the Steam Input should have fixed the problem for most players.

If not, here's another thing you should look out for in Steam.

Steam: Detected Controllers

Are your controllers actually showing up on Steam? Maybe there's been a detection issue, so let's check out whether your controller has actually been detected.

  1. Open Steam and click on "Steam" in the top left corner of your client.
  2. Click on settings.
  3. Look for "controller" in the left list and click on it.
  4. If your controller isn't listed, then try the basic tips from the beginning again.

Other than that, perhaps you've plugged in too many devices that can be seen as a controller from your PC. Try plugging out other controllers and devices, that you don't currently need, besides the controller that you want to use.

Steam: General Controller Settings

If those previous tips haven't helped, maybe this one will.

  1. Open Steam and go to "settings" again.
  2. Click on "controller" and then go to "general controller settings" this time.
  3. Check the controller type that you are using (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) to enable support for this controller type.
  4. Save these changes.
  5. Start playing!

Hopefully these tips have helped you to fix your controller errors with Lies of P!
