It's been a few years since the game was announced back in 2019, but it seems we're finally getting more information on Daedalic's action-adventure game Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Finally, we have a release date, as well as for which consoles!

Update, July 26: this game has been delayed and will no longer release on September 1.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Release Date
On July 26 the release date was pushed back from September 1 to some time later in 2022, although we haven't been given a specific date yet. The only explanation they gave was that it was "to create the best possible experience", so we aren't too worried yet.
If it can be released in the winter of 2022 then they can have a strong release, since the Lord of the Rings hype should still be there thanks to the Amazon Prime show. So, if you're a Lord of the Rings fan, then this fall will mean you're going to be fed well... if the game and show lives up to the world J.R.R Tolkien created, right?
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Story
The game is pretty simple. You'll be playing as Gollum and exploring Middle-Earh. Your one goal? To find your precious once more. Basically... you'll be looking for your ring that you lost to Bilbo Baggins. The game is also going to incorporate stealth tactics, as you have to try not to be seen by anyone, especially Sauron.
It also seems like you'll be the one deciding whether Gollum goes completely bonkers or not, having the choice between his personalities. Sounds pretty cool right? At least it seems like you'll be able to have some variance in the gameplay.
What Platform Will The Game Be Released On?
You'll be able to play the game on a bunch of platforms. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. If you're a Nintendo Switch player, you'll have to wait a bit longer, but there is a Nintendo version in the works as well.
So, if you're a fan of the book series, like some high fantasy and just want to explore Middle-Earth, then this might be a game to test out this fall. It will be available as of September 1, 2022, a day before the release of the Amazon Prime show!
